"The attention to detail and the price paid for the project are the two biggest factors when selecting a company for work. I highly recommend Dan Bailey and his Minnesota Grown Services company. My property has never looked this great! Thanks to Dan and his staff."

"Hired for tree removal, block wall upgrade, remove garden, install sod, tree removal and trimming of another tree. Excellent service, and fair pricing. They cleaned up after work was done even in the street where trucks for debris were stationed. Workers worked very hard and were very nice and did a great job. Mariano, the owner was willing to help out with things I forgot to mention at the bidding process and all work completed in the designated time. I would hire them again."

Small jobs welcome

"Excellent communication and a quick response for our quote! Brennan is professional but also makes you feel super comfortable and relaxed as he has a chill demeanor. We called other companies for this project too and none of them were anywhere near as communicative as NMT. Highly recommend!"

Excavating questions, answered by experts

Yes, professional installations include trenching or borehole drilling required for ground loops.

There is no standard depth for burying a septic tank; they are typically buried anywhere from 4 inches to 4 feet underground. The final depth depends on several factors, including the depth of your main sewer line, the height of the bedrock, soil type, local regulations, and the property's landscape. If you plan to grow grass or plants over the tank, a depth of at least 4 to 6 inches is recommended. Deeper tanks can be more difficult to locate, but a septic professional can help find it for you.

Yes. A metal detector is one of the quickest and easiest ways to find your septic tank. However, metal detectors can be too expensive (costing upward of $300 in some cases), and not everyone has a metal detector just lying around. If that’s the case for you, you can also take a long metal rod and poke it into the ground at regular intervals until you hit something—likely your septic tank lid.

Your contractor should handle dust control during the project. It's best to speak with your contractor beforehand to check if they plan to cover your furniture, protect your vents, or use fans to redirect dust. Eliminating drywall dust is a particularly large challenge during construction, so always take this into account during your planning phase.

Directional drilling is complex and requires training to use the advanced machinery. It can be challenging to monitor the position of the drill since there’s no direct line of sight. Directional drilling can also be more expensive with a cost of $10 to $30 per linear foot compared to $5 to $12 per linear foot for trenching.
