"We were very pleased with Brian's work in our new home! We had him remove some wallpaper and do a complete paint job of 2 bedrooms, the living room, and bathroom. I appreciated his communication throughout the process, as some of the walls and ceilings needed a little extra care due to some stains from moisture and nicotine. He left the space neat and tidy when he was done. He knows his stuff and I would not hesitate to hire him again as we continue to work on our home!"

"Really impressed with the end results of our spare bedroom . After removing the majority of our wallpaper I enlisted the help of Painting by Jerry to help repair our old plaster walls and paint. I really appreciated the attention to detail that Henry and the team displayed. The room looks amazing now."

"How refreshing to work with a company that is extremely responsive and on time. We have used Ryan and his team multiple times for various painting jobs and the result is always amazing. Ryan and his crew pay great attention to detail and take the time to properly prep a job so his jobs not just look good today, but look great for a long time. I would highly recommend FreshLook Painting for your home."

"Elite Finish Painting removed wallpaper and repainted a bathroom for us. Elite Finish Painting also repaired and repainted the dining room ceiling after a plumber had cut holes in it to get at a clogged pipe. For both the bathroom and the dining room, they were professional and meticulous about their work. They were always on time and completed the work in the time-frame they quoted."

Wallpapering questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can apply peel-and-stick wallpaper over wood paneling, but it requires significant preparation for a good result. Peel-and-stick wallpaper has a weaker adhesive than traditional wallpaper and works best on smooth, non-textured surfaces like painted or primed drywall. Because wood paneling is often textured with grooves, any flaws in the underlying surface will likely be visible after application. To prepare the paneling, you must ensure the surface is free of cracks, holes, and protrusions by filling any indentations and sanding rough spots to create a smooth surface. An alternative is to remove the paneling and apply the wallpaper directly to the underlying drywall or plaster, provided it is in good condition.

White walls are considered a classic and timeless look and will most likely always be in style. A white wall easily blends into any type of home decor style which makes it a suitable option for most homeowners. Another appealing quality about white walls is that if it's not a color someone is going for, the color is easy to paint over.

While some people are confident in their ability to replace concrete by drilling out the broken pieces and replacing them with bagged concrete, it’s possible to run into snags that make hiring a professional worth it. Trying to level concrete slabs can require special equipment, which can be pricey to rent and tough to operate. It's also crucial to contact your town's municipal office to ensure you are allowed to take on the project without a permit.

In most cases, it is not recommended to wallpaper over existing wallpaper, as the success depends on the type of paper already on the wall. While you might be able to cover non-coated wallpaper, you should never apply new wallpaper over a vinyl-coated one, which is more common. Doing so can lead to poor adhesion, resulting in bubbles, imperfections, and peeling. It can also trap moisture, potentially causing hazardous mold growth between the layers.

Even if the existing wallpaper is suitable, experts recommend applying only one new layer. Adding multiple layers (more than two total) can cause significant adhesion problems, leading to warping and bubbling. For the best results, the recommended approach is to remove the old wallpaper and all paste residue before hanging the new paper. If you are unsure about your wallpaper type, consider consulting a professional.

Options include bricks, natural stone, and concrete blocks. Choose based on durability, aesthetics, and budget.
