One way to reduce the cost of a new appliance is to look for sales and buy on certain holidays, like Memorial Day weekend and Black Friday. If you don’t mind a blemish or two on the appliance, look for scratch-and-dent units, which are often available at a significant bargain.

When thinking about repairing or replacing an oven, considering the “50% rule” will help you the most. This rule states that if your oven is over 50% of the way through its lifespan, or the cost of the repair is more than 50% of the price of a new oven, then replacing it will be more cost-effective in the long run. 

However, if you have a newer oven that only requires a simple fix, there’s no need to scrap it altogether. Taking care of the more minor repairs will help you get the most out of your oven for longer.
