"Great. Their initial time frame was long (they were scheduling up to two months out), but I mentioned I was hoping for sooner. When, four weeks in, they had a sudden opening, due to a job in my neighborhood finishing early, they called to arrange and were there within an hour. Late notice meant I could not be home, but the arborist reassured me by speaking with me on the phone. The tree pruning was smart and sensitive. When I expressed some disappointment with underprunung on a big shrub, the arborist arranged to come back to fix it the following week. Super responsive, willing to explain recommendations."

"I needed a mid-sized tree removed from my property and solicited five bids. I was astounded at the range of pricing received. Understandably, every company has their own unique business model. A few of the companies that bid my job were the stereotypical higher end companies who dispatched an Arborist in a company vehicle, wearing a uniform, carrying a clipboard. While I’m sure these companies do stellar work, it wasn’t in my budget to work with that kind of company on this project. I can tell you that I’m not someone who typically chooses the lowest price contractor, but this time I did, and that price was from Twins G. I sense that Twins G is a lower overhead type business, as it relates to labor, equipment, facilities, etc. They also accept only cash or checks….no credit cards. Also, I don’t know that Twins G has or uses a crane for large removal projects. They climb. As other online reviews for the company were positive, I felt comfortable giving them a try. Bottom line, Twins G did a great job for me on my tree removal project. The entire tree was removed by a single climbing cutter, using skilled rigging and roping of branches and trunk sections. The project was completed in just over an hour’s time. The overall removal went smoothly and the ground crew did a good job as well. They also cleaned up the area after their work. All in all, they did the work they promised to do for me, and did so at a competitive price. Everyone along the way was courteous and pleasant. I can’t speak to how Twins G would handle the removal of a huge 60 year old super-sized tree, but I’d definitely feel comfortable recommending them for mid-sized tree removals or general tree trimming projects. I’ll be using them again. A job well done!"

"Mike and his brothers did a fantastic job trimming the trees at my home. I have wanted to get this job done for a long time and it looks so much better! They were timely, friendly and the price was fair. My neighbors liked them so much that they hired them too. I would absolutely recommend them for any tree work that you need done."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Late winter is ideal, but if you’re pruning apple trees in the spring, prune them as early as possible in the season. You want to ensure your tree is just creeping out of dormancy and hasn’t started pushing out new growth. If you prune your tree too late into spring, you generally won’t see results until the following year.

That said, there’s no pruning season for unhealthy growth. Remove dead, dying, or diseased branches as soon as you notice them, regardless of the time of year.

We don’t recommend DIY tree trimming for a few different reasons. First, the tools required to trim a tree can be costly, up to $1,100 or more, for the ladders and specialized saws needed.

Safety is another concern, especially when working with more mature trees. As a guideline, you should only DIY tree trimming when branches are less than two inches in diameter. Any more, and the safety risk becomes too high, which could lead to catastrophe. For this job, it’s safest to let a tree-trimming professional assess the work needed.

Bleach can potentially kill some types of delicate ornamental trees, but for the most part, it will only kill the foliage it comes in contact with. Applying bleach is not an effective method of killing a tree. A better option is to use an herbicide, which is a chemical compound designed to effectively kill a tree.

It may not be worth it to rake every leaf in your yard, but it’s necessary to remove the majority of leaves to prevent them from smothering grass growth on your lawn. However, raking leaves isn’t your only option for leaf removal. You can remove leaves easily with a leaf blower or compost or mulch them with your lawn mower to repurpose them to help grow your garden or yard.

If executed correctly your tree should survive after being transplanted to a new spot. However, effective transplanting requires six months, careful root pruning, safe transport to the new location, and replanting in prime soil conditions. You’ll also need an appropriately sized root ball for a complete tree transplant. A good rule of thumb is that, for every inch in diameter, your tree’s root ball needs to be around 11 inches. So a tree with a diameter of six inches needs a root ball of approximately 66 inches.
