"I bought an Angie's List deal from All Day Haul Away for $99 (prepaid); they said by phone that my oversized piece would probably require an extra charge. Four months later when I called for a pickup, it was made by a business called Junk Genius (a subcontractor of All Day Haul Away?). Junk Genius's standard charge is $95, slightly less than the cost of the Angie's List deal I had already paid. Junk Genius said nothing about the load being oversized. Next time, I would try calling Junk Genius first."

Hauling questions, answered by experts

When adjusting your garbage collection service in MN, you will encounter extra fees for changing your cart size or opting into the organics program. Standard service excludes bulky items, so you must pay separately for large furniture pickups. If your waste exceeds cart capacity, you are required to purchase approved extra bag tags. Missing the morning pickup deadline also results in redelivery charges.

Helpful?

The MN climate heavily impacts garbage collection service. Subzero winter temperatures freeze organic waste solid, so keep carts inside an insulated garage between pickups. During snowstorms, trucks maintain their schedule, but you must keep carts clear of snowplow piles. In the hot summer months, weekly collection is vital to prevent severe odors and pests. During the spring thaw, place carts carefully to prevent heavy trucks from damaging soft turf.

Helpful?

You can handle several garbage collection service issues yourself in Chaska. If your organics cart freezes shut, bring it indoors to thaw or pour warm water around the lid seal. For an overfull cart, purchase official extra bag tags and place tagged bags beside the bin. Report cracked lids, broken wheels, or missing carts directly to public works for replacement. Never attempt to repair city-owned carts yourself.

Helpful?

After updating your garbage collection service, verify your next city utility bill to confirm the correct service tier. Check the official schedule to ensure your pickup day remains the same, and register for city notifications regarding holiday delays. Following a major cleanout, inspect your Chaska driveway and boulevard for pavement or turf damage, and take any unaccepted materials directly to the county environmental center.

Helpful?

In Chaska, garbage collection service changes often impact your recycling and organics schedules, as they run on the same day. Upgrading your cart size requires extra storage space and ventilation if you keep bins in an attached garage. You must also place carts at the curb by 6:00 AM, so ensure they do not block your irrigation systems, underground utility lines, or landscaping features.
