"There were three men to do the work. They prepped, painted, and cleaned up. Entire unit was done in 6 hours, one hour ahead of their proposed schedule for doing the work. Three colors were used. One color for bathroom and laundry room. The two other colors were used on alternate walls in the bedroom, living room, dining room, kitchen, and entry hallway. I bought the paint ahead of time. We painted over existing color. We did not change the color. One coat gave us adequate coverage for walls that were painted 10 years ago."

"Project was an interior paint job with some wall repair. The crew was very careful in finding all the flaws in the walls and fixing them. The painting looks perfect. The crew was friendly, polite, respectful, and professional. The clean-up they did upon finishing the job was first rate. There were absolutely no stray paint drops, tape leftovers, and extremely little dust. They moved the furniture back where they found it. As a final review, Mike did a walkthrough with me to be sure that I was satisfied. I have another interior paint project that I will likely call EcoBlast Green for later this winter."

Small jobs welcome

"Frostbite Furniture did an exceptional job on refinishing my 4 antique kitchen chairs. Dawn was very professional and the entire process was absolutely flawless including the pick up and return of my finished project. They were very meticulous and worked with me on the entire project to make sure the staining and finishing would match and compliment my table. They take great pride in their work and I will definitely use them on any future projects and refer them to anyone requiring their services."

Painting questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can and should paint or stain pressure-treated wood, as this helps prevent the surface from cracking. However, it is crucial to wait for the wood to dry out completely from the chemical treatment process before applying a finish. If the wood is still wet, the paint will not adhere properly. The drying time can range from weeks to six months. To test if the wood is ready, drip some water onto a board. If the water is absorbed, the wood is dry enough for painting or staining. If the water beads up on the surface, it needs more time to dry. You can build with the wood while it's still wet, but you must wait for it to dry before painting.

A properly applied coat of stain will last between 3 and 8 years, depending on your climate. If you live in a place where your fence experiences a lot of moisture or high heat, your stain will last for a shorter period than in more temperate conditions. We recommend reapplying stain every 3 to 5 years to keep your wood in good condition.

Rags used with oil-based stains are highly flammable and can spontaneously combust in the right conditions. To reduce the fire risk, throw them in a metal container after use and add rocks on top to secure them. Add an inch of water and seal the container. Take the rags in the container to a hazardous waste factory as soon as possible.

The easiest way to stain a fence depends on your experience and comfort level with the project. Applying stain with an airless sprayer or pump sprayer might get the stain job done faster, but it can be tricky. Paint rollers and stain brushes are slower but simpler for a DIY project.

Regular staining, sealing, and inspecting for rot or insect damage prolongs fence lifespan.
