"Ryan was absolutely wonderful to work with! I was able to show him several different vanity ideas, and he took the elements I loved from each one and brought them together into the perfect design. We are extremely pleased with the final result! He even created several color samples and mixed a custom stain color specifically for us, which made the finished piece feel truly unique. Ryan was professional, responsive, detail-oriented, and a pleasure to work with throughout the entire process. We couldn’t be happier with our vanity and would highly recommend him!"

"Ellison Painting did a fantastic job on the repair and exterior painting of our house. They were in constant communication, did what they said they would do and when they would it. The crew was friendly, efficient and did high quality work. Providing a color consultant to help us with color choice was a bonus. We highly recommend this company for any painting needs."

Small jobs welcome

"Doni made sure my office was painted in time for the tech installation before opening and I could trust him with a key. All of my equipment waiting for install was accounted for. The paint job was done well and we’ve gotten quite a lot of compliments on the improvements."

"The staff was friendly and professional however there appeared to have been a disconnect with the communication between the team which resulted in the kitchen sink not being secured, areas missing caulk and small section of my cabinets chipped off. These issues may stem from me being told that from one team that when the other team comes out, they will take care of it and when that team arrives, them stating "they don't do that". There are teams that work on taking the doors to the warehouse, countertop installers, etc..etc."

Kitchen Cabinet Refacing questions, answered by experts

You should not clean cabinets with vinegar. While many homeowners think it is a natural cleaner, vinegar is a mild acid, not a degreaser. Since it does not cut through greasy grime, it won't effectively remove it from kitchen cabinets. For best results, use a degreasing cleaner designed for prep work, then rinse and dry thoroughly before sanding.

Late summer or early fall are two popular times to upgrade kitchen cabinets. With the holidays right around the corner, this gives you spillover time in case your renovation project takes longer than anticipated. Then you get to host and show off your new kitchen when company comes.

Refacing cabinets is more cost-effective than total replacement and offers a refreshed look by simply replacing doors and hardware, and applying new surface veneers while retaining existing cabinet boxes.

To prepare for cabinet refinishing or refacing, it’s important to remove all items from the cabinetry in question. In addition, clear any clutter from the room, whether it's the kitchen, bathroom, or otherwise. Be sure to have additional cabinet materials, such as cabinet hardware, lights, and glass inserts, ready for your cabinet installer to use.

Finally, if you have pets, ensure they are in a safe, separate location away from your cabinet professionals, who will bring materials in and out of your home during the process.

If you don't sand your cabinets, the new paint or stain won’t adhere properly, impacting the final finish and leading to peeling, chipping, or a sloppy result that won't stand the test of time. Sanding removes the old finish, smooths imperfections, and gives the new coat something to grip. Without it, you will waste your time, money, and effort.
