"Dave and his brother, Allen, were very personable and explained what was wrong in our attic and what they planned to do about it. I hired an electrician to replace all of the antiquated fire hazard nob and tube wiring with up to code wiring. Then I hired a roofer to open up our closed ridge vents. Then Allen and Ben sprayed 12 inches of cellulose insulation into our attic. The men cleaned up after themselves, and made certain that we (the new owner and myself, the seller of the house) were pleased with the result. I recommend Mulder Insulation highly and with absolutely no reservation whatsoever."

"Greg, the owner, came out on two occasions to discuss the crawl space and drain tile. He is extremely knowledgeable and experienced in the crawl space industry. We had a few options and he told me about the new spray product he was using. It is this unique seamless liner that is sprayed on after preparing and insulating the area.
His crew was very professional and easy to talk to. We had some scheduling conflicts that were easy to work around and get the job done when we needed it to be finished.
The difference we noticed in the smell in our basement, the effect the insulation and seamless lining had on the air conditioning in our family room (which is above the crawl space) was immediate. We feel cooler air coming through the duct work since it isn't losing energy traveling through a non insulated space anymore and they basement smells and feels normal since the dirt and concrete is now completely covered by the new liner.
That new product is great.
Greg's company also did drain tile work in our basement. It was a different crew than the group who did the crawl space, but they were equally as professional and easy to work with. Rather than break up the job into 3-4 days they stayed late the first day to get everything ready and prepared so they could complete the job quicker. The job was done the next day. The price was very fair and the crew was extremely clean throughout thew whole process.
We now have a water tight, well insulated basement and we couldn't be happier with the results.
I have told several friends about the experience and would recommend them anytime. From Greg down to each of his crew members they really know how to do a good job and work with the customer."

"We thought Dennison Exteriors was very professional and communicated well. The quoting process was informative and the price was competitive with other established contractors. While there were some bumps in the road (current labor shortage, delays in material delivery, and bad weather), the crew was very helpful and Scott Dennison was responsive to all of our questions and concerns. I believe the quality of the work is very good and would go to them again for this sort of work."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

Radiant barriers and insulation serve different purposes, so one is not inherently better than the other. Radiant barriers reflect radiant heat, helping keep spaces cool, especially in hot climates, while insulation slows heat transfer through conduction. For optimal energy efficiency, it’s best to use both together.

Radiant barriers can enhance the performance of insulation by preventing heat gain in the summer and heat loss in the winter. The choice between them depends on specific climate conditions and the building’s design requirements.

Spray foam insulation doesn’t do well around heat sources. Therefore, You can use spray foam insulation to seal around HVAC boots that penetrate through the drywalls or around where wrapped ducts connect to the boots, but we don’t recommend using spray foam insulation to encapsulate your air ducts. Spray foam insulation on air ducts is also less effective compared to duct wraps.

Mineral wool has an excellent life expectancy of up to 50 years, provided it's kept dry and free of pests. Compared to fiberglass, with a life span of 20 to 30 years, mineral wool stacks up well for long-term cost savings. Sheep wool maintains a similar life span to fiberglass, while estimates for hemp wool insulation life expectancies are all over the board, ranging anywhere from 20 to 100 years.

There are several strategic ways to lower your home insurance premium. The primary one is to shop around and get quotes every few years to make sure you’re getting the best deal. Also, sometimes bundling your auto and homeowner’s insurance will get you a discount on both. Finally, try to keep your credit score up; many homeowner insurance companies use credit scores to generate quotes.

While insulation is required for all exterior walls in a house, it is not typically required for interior walls. Local and state building codes mandate that new construction homes have adequate insulation in exterior walls and ceilings to suit the local climate.

However, there are several benefits to adding insulation to interior walls. It is excellent for sound-dampening between rooms and can help with temperature control by maintaining a regulated temperature in specific rooms and lowering heat transfer between adjacent areas. Insulating interior walls can also contribute to the overall energy efficiency of your home.
