"From start to finish, Aiden and his team were communicative, clear, and thorough. They repaired our wooden fence, installed a double and single gate, and seeded the yard. We were very pleased with the work they did. Aiden was always very responsive to texts and calls, and was very sure to make sure all of our needs were met. When asked about the various jobs, he was very sure to talk through the whole project to make sure that all parties were on the same page. I would certainly recommend Aiden and his crew, and would re-hire them ourselves for any future work. He also threw in cleaning our gutters at no charge."

"BR Roofing did a fantastic job replacing my roof. The pitch was very steep and they completed the job as promised. They sent me pics of the job in progress since I was out of town. Clean up was great too. These guys are the best roofers I have ever had experience with and I would highly recommend this company!"

Fencing questions, answered by experts

For fence upkeep in Traverse City, keep a snow rake, ice melt compatible with your fence type, and a pressure washer for spring cleaning. Stock up on galvanized fasteners, spare pickets, exterior wood sealant, and concrete mix for quick repairs. A sturdy level, post-hole digger, and wire brush help address issues caused by freeze-thaw cycles and the moisture typical of neighborhoods near Lake Michigan.

Helpful?

In Traverse City, safely address minor fencing issues by gently removing lake-effect snow and ice to prevent moisture damage, and trimming branches after windstorms common near Lake Michigan. Tighten loose fasteners and replace cracked boards as needed. Always wear insulated gloves and boots in winter, and double-check property boundaries before repairs, especially in established neighborhoods where lines may be less defined.

Helpful?

Fencing projects in Traverse City can be complicated by sloped yards, rocky ground, or mature trees, which require specialized installation. Proximity to Lake Michigan increases wind exposure and drainage concerns. Historic district restrictions, underground utility lines, and shared driveways also add complexity. Additionally, the short building season due to frozen ground means careful planning is essential for a successful fencing project.

Helpful?

To assess if your Traverse City home is suited for a fencing project, consider the unique local climate—areas with good drainage and minimal snow drifting are ideal. Clearly marked property lines and awareness of neighborhood characteristics, like historic districts or lakeside proximity, are important. Review local setback and HOA rules, and check for mature trees or rocky soil that could impact installation or long-term fence stability.

Helpful?

Homeowners in Traverse City should select fencing materials that resist harsh winters and lake-effect moisture, and choose styles that complement neighborhood aesthetics, especially in historic or lakeside areas. Decide on gate placement for snow removal access, and participate in permit paperwork and property survey reviews. Your input ensures the fence meets local setback requirements and enhances both curb appeal and year-round durability.
