"My experiences with crawl space water seepage started back in September 2008 when the Chicago area had a huge storm with 7+ inches of water in one day.  We had water up to the joists in our crawl space.  I was totally freaked out but some family helped us pump it out with a couple of utility pumps.   Our house is like many in our section of Villa Park with a yard that slopes slightly towards the house and a foundation that?s relatively low compared to the yard.  This means that when the gutters dump the water it inevitably runs back towards the house.  We had two or three smaller rainstorms with about one foot of water in the crawl space before we finally proceeded with some work. 
ABC Crawlspaces came out and spent a lot of time analyzing every aspect of the drainage problems in my yard and crawl
space.  I asked a lot of questions since and they explained each point in plain English.  I also had another crawl space waterproofing company come out and analyze our situation.  I wasn't very comfortable with them plus their pricing was higher than ABC.  In addition, I had a couple of well-known basement waterproofing companies analyze our situation.  I liked how they spent time thoroughly analyzing our situation but I felt their solutions were inadequate for the problems we had.  It all comes down to design.  I'm a detail-oriented computer guy and I'm very picky about the design of any solution for my home.
The crews from ABC worked very hard and were pleasant.  The work was completely quickly and I felt it was done well.  I
tend to work from home when such extensive work is done so I was able to observe the entire process.  The drainage
and water proofing solution has performed extremely well.  I no longer have to worry during a storm.  That?s priceless.  When we get a large rain storm it?s really nice to hear the sump pump go off and remember that I?m not going to have a flooded crawl space.  Also, since we?re not getting any water into the crawl space I have the benefit of dramatically reducing mold growth.  That?s also priceless for someone with mold allergies.  The crawl space is also usable now for storage."

"he originally called Jake Evink, of Roofs and More about some holes in our roof because of the wind storm last year.  When he came to give an estimate, he also took the time to put tape over the holes so that the roof would not leak anymore until it was repaired!  Unfortunately we had promised the job to another provider before Jake came. 
When we decided to have insulation added to our attic, Jake's estimate was @$75 dollars higher than the lowest estimate but we chose him for two reasons: his previous considerateness regarding our roof and his suggestion that he could run the hose into the attic thru the gable vent instead of thru the front door.. Jake also thoroughly explained what needed to be done and how he would do it.
After several delays due to bad weather and a death in our family, Jake came with one other worker and blew in the insulation.  When he was done, He encouraged me to go up the ladder and inspect his work.  He and his assistant were friendly and were careful regarding our rugs and furnishings.  When they were done, they cleaned up thorougly.  Our house already feels warmer!
PS - Jake subsequently followed up with information so that we could apply for a tax deduction and a rebate from Consumer's Power.

"Since my previous review of DNA I've kept employing Derek Esterline and his associates over and over again, as there's no end of things that need to be repaired/updated/replaced, etc, after thirty-some years of "deferred maintenance." Derek has recently taken on a new partner, John Wright, and I wanted to update my review with a note about how expertly he has fit into the business. John is conscientious, industrious, and a very quick study who appreciates the high levels of skill and experience Derek has to impart. Recently they've given my barn a complete makeover, replacing shoddy roofing, broken windows, siding and hardware as necessary, and power-washing and painting the exterior and trim so that it now looks like something you might find in Martha Stewart's back pasture. They've cleaned up severe storm damage, carefully taking down a huge maple limb that had been weakened and left hanging perilously over the road by gale-force winds. In addition, John's in charge of the bookkeeping chores, cheerfully and diligently dealing with all the paperwork. That he's also an extraordinarily kind person is not necessarily relevant to a review like this, but to the extent that it speaks to a person's character I'll throw that in as well. (I've been so touched by the way he makes sure my very old, blind, dog gets his share of attention and doggie treats.) As far as I'm concerned, Derek and John are the Hallmark Cards of the repair business--for "when you care enough to hire the very best.""
