"He was friendly and explained the problem and what he could do to repair my patio door. He got it fixed in a timely manner and it works great now. I could barely get it open before and now it works perfectly. Thankyou so much!!"

"Gary painted 5 areas inside our home. He had bid an acceptable price with an anticipated 1 week timeframe. He arrived each day at an agreed upon time. He found several areas of our lathe and plaster walls that required extra repair finish work that extended the time necessary to get the job completed. In order to finish within 1 week, as quoted, he offered and did work both Saturday and Sunday going above and beyond our expectations to ensure a flawless outcome! He is friendly, reliable and takes pride in his work. I would definitely hire him again should we need painting in the future and recommend him to others!"

"We will hire him again! It's refreshing to find a professional who responds quickly, and does a superb job. He removed, repaired our rotted soffit and removed and repaired a facia board. Painted both and found the problem related to both issues. We will use him again !"

Door Repair questions, answered by experts

The job is relatively simple, but it does require some skill. When planing a door, you run the risk of splintering it if you don't do it correctly. You’ll need to remove the door from the hinges in order to properly plane it, and removing and rehanging a door can be a two-person job. While planing a door is a straightforward repair, you’ll want to ensure it’s done right to avoid damaging your door.

Yes, spray foam is simple and effective for filling in holes in a door. Use low-expansion aerosol foam insulation to avoid creating too much pressure. Stuff some old newspaper around the inside perimeter of the hole to contain the spray foam, and then fill the void with foam. Once it dries, cut the foam flush with the door's surface, apply a few coats of spackle, sand it down, and paint.

To remove painted-over hinges for replacement or paint removal, you should use a utility knife to score around the edges of the hinges gently. Work very carefully so as not to damage the surrounding area. From there, you can unscrew the hinges and gently pry them off the door, making sure not to bend the metal.

Most of the time, constant use will loosen the mounting screws on your doorknob and cause it to loosen away from the door. While this can be annoying, the solution is quick and simple. If you have exposed mounting bolts, simply tighten them with a screwdriver, being sure not to overtighten and bind up the turning mechanism. For doorknobs without visible mounting bolts, first pry off the rose mounting plate or unscrew the set screw before removing it.

If your door is sticking at the bottom because it’s making contact with the floor, there are a few fixes you can try. Start by tightening the hinge screws. Next, check for a floor sweep or insulation on the bottom edge of the door that is getting caught on the floor. If these solutions don’t work, try sanding the bottom edge of the door.
