"I was very impressed with Sentri Homes - their customer service was excellent. They sent a subcontractor to install some vinyl laminate in my bathroom and he ended up getting glue all over the carpet in our bedroom. The sub ended up ghosting both me and Sentri, leaving me stuck with a ruined carpet. Sentri stuck with me for over a month to get the carpet replaced with the identical original and to get the vinyl job 100% completed. The carpet was a Home Depot exclusive and Sentri handled everything with them. I will be using Sentri for a much bigger renovation I have coming up soon, because I know that they will make sure everything gets done right no matter what problems come up. The vinyl looks great too."

"North West Home Solutions did Excellent Work on our home!! I am Very Pleased with their recent work on our roof! They did exactly what was needed. Our roof and chimney has been sealed off to stop the water damage and they have completely fixed our interior ceilings from the damage caused. I would Highly recommend them."

Barndominium Builders questions, answered by experts

Keep copies of all approved local permits, inspection reports, and your final certificate of occupancy. Retain the stamped engineer drawings and any zoning variance records for your property. You must also save all soil tests, utility marking confirmation numbers, and environmental approvals. Finally, store your licensed contractor records, proof of insurance, and lien waivers to protect your MI property after completing pole barn building work.

Helpful?

Post embedment depth requires strict attention during pole barn building. Posts set above the 52-inch frost line will heave and compromise the entire structure. Roof engineering is equally critical; undersized rafters will fail under heavy Petoskey snow loads. Contractors must also install adequate diagonal wind bracing and grade the site properly to prevent chronic water infiltration during the wet spring thaw.

Helpful?

Schedule your pole barn building project between late April and October. Ground temperatures must remain above forty degrees for proper concrete curing, making winter construction unsafe. If your current storage structures show severe damage from heavy Petoskey snow loads, replace them before the next winter. Submit your permit applications in early spring to ensure you receive approval before the dry summer construction window opens.

Helpful?

Inspect your structure for shifted posts, misaligned doors, or gaps near the foundation. These issues point to severe frost heave damage. You should also look for sagging roof panels and bowing columns, which indicate the structure cannot handle heavy MI snow loads. Rusted post bases and persistent indoor water pooling mean previous pole barn building work lacked proper site grading and drainage.

Helpful?

Start by checking local zoning rules and deed restrictions to confirm setback requirements and property line limits. You must also identify your soil type and verify that your property sits outside protected wetlands or floodplains. Because MI requires posts to sit below a 52-inch frost line, understanding your soil conditions ensures a secure foundation. Finally, locate all underground utility easements before starting any pole barn building project.
