"They did repair the furnace and the chimney lining (which they'd put in about 8 years prior when they were known as Bob's Sheet Meta)l. I paid them $1065 for the repair and was grateful they could fix the problem. One week after they performed the work, my ceiling and chimney began leaking. I hired a construction company to find/repair the leak and the guy let me know that he found pieces of sheet metal on my roof and wondered why. I explained about the furnace job the week before. He also found that there was no seal between the flue and heating cap on the chimney top. He called Byron's and spoke with someone who authorized him to finish their work. I had to pay the construction company $750 to repair the damage caused by Byron's. I gave Byron ample opportunity to do the right thing (reimburse me the $750) and even offered to accept a credit instead. Byron refused to accept any accountability and instead was mad at the construction company for "throwing him under the bus". There are many good repair folks in and around Houghton, MI but sadly I've learned this is is not one of the reputable companies."

Probably not. Moving a boiler to a new location is a very different prospect from replacing it in the same spot, and significantly more expensive. Plus, boilers are typically carefully positioned in proximity to pipes and radiators when installed. Homeowners may want to move boilers to free up space, prevent freezing problems that have happened in winter, or solve a noise issue—but it’s a much more costly proposition.

Your house may be cold even if the heat is on because of bad insulation, gaps in doors, small holes pulling hot air from the home, or excess humidity. The heater itself might be malfunctioning. If you have a closed-system boiler that needs an expansion tank to work, you cannot run your boiler without it (not without the risk of extensive damage and even explosions). Your options include moving the boiler to another spot, rerouting boiler piping to a more open area, or completing a remodel around the boiler to create more space for the tank.

If your radiator turns on every time you turn on your hot water, your problem is likely your motorized three-port valve that’s attached to your boiler. When it malfunctions, the valve isn’t closing properly, so the water begins to flow to your radiator, thus kicking off the heat. To fix this, hire a boiler repair tech near you to replace your valve.

There are several common types of HVAC systems that you may have, including split systems, hybrid HVAC, duct-free systems, packaged heating and air, geothermal heating, or even portable units for heating or cooling.
