"Getting the cost estimate and doing the actual work went very quickly and efficiently. The installation looks fine. But then there was a month-long delay in then getting the final paperwork to me, which included the information on how to arrange for the building inspector to come out. But the work did pass the inspection, which was good.

Chimney Liner Installation questions, answered by experts

While you can perform some repairs to a pool liner without draining the pool, you’ll need to empty it to remove the old liner and install a new one. Since most pools don’t have a main drain, you’ll need to use a submersible pump or pool cover pump to drain the water. If you are installing a new liner, be sure to assess and repair the pool walls and floor to ensure a good installation for the new liner.

A high-quality vinyl pool liner can last 10 to 15 years with proper maintenance. However, factors like poor water chemistry, constant UV exposure, heavy use, or harsh weather can reduce its lifespan to as little as five to nine years. You should consider replacing your liner when you notice significant fading, discoloration, wrinkling, cracking, or multiple tears. If the liner is heavily damaged, it's best to have a professional inspect it.

If you’re wondering how to find a leak in an aboveground pool, the process is the same as it is for an in-ground pool. Note that the vinyl liner in aboveground pools is fairly thin, so sharp objects easily puncture it. Additionally, the liner can wear down after constant exposure to pool chemicals, especially when chlorine levels are higher than they should be. For these reasons, small holes in the vinyl liner often cause leaks, but you can easily detect them with the dye test.

Costs depend on pool size, equipment, and any additional tasks like repairs or deep cleaning.

DIY is not recommended due to its complexity. Professional installation ensures proper fitting and longevity.
