Superior Home Building LLCJerrod Thomason, the owner of Superior Home Building, did a complete remodel of our house including a new addition. He did the work while we spent the winter in FL. I contacted him based on the outstanding reviews on Angie's list. We did not meet him until the job was well under way. Everything was done by phone, email, and FaceTime. We couldn't have been more pleased with the result. I would recommend Jerod for any job. He was outstanding!! Our job included: new roof, new siding, new gutters & down spouts, replace all windows, new flooring, new lighting and electrical, new plumbing, seal walls and waterproof basement, paint every room and ceiling in the house. Also a complete remodel of the kitchen, bathroom, utility room, closets, and an addition which included a large new bathroom, walk-in closet and storage area. Use Superior Home Building you won't regret it!!- john b.

Great Lakes Building ConceptsI am a licensed attorney with degrees in civil and mechanical engineering. I spent several years building barns and supervising concrete, steel, reinforcing, foundations, and soils on major construction projects. The roofers showed up on the date and time expected and the tear-off and installation were completed. I was disappointed they did not knock on the door so I could look things over before they left. After looking things over I found 2 issues. The 2 skylights were shingled over the flashing on the downhill side of the skylights which, I believe, is not proper and may likely lead to leaks over time. The only solution offered was roof cement around the skylight rather than curing the flashing issue. The second issue was the continuous ridge vent. They did not extend the slot in the decking at the peak of the roof to allow improved venting. The sales person was rather aggressive on the phone and, given the substantial completion and penalty language in the contract I felt it was best to pay in full and eliminate any continued contact with this company.- William G.

Northwest Tile & InteriorsMy original home is over 100 years old and we have done 3 major additions to it over the 40+ years we have lived here. We wanted the structural work done for the good of the house and outbuildings. We wanted the siding to both make the house look like one completed building and also to make it weather tight. Ed was super to work with. He listened closely the several times we met before i received the detailed bid. He was great in the creative and planning process. He came up with several ways to achieve what i wanted. He explained how he would install the windows to both be very attractive and weather tight. He was patient with decisions. He was willing to hold various types of siding in place so i could get a real idea of how the different options would work. His eye for detail is amazing and his desire for perfection is evident. The woodwork Ed did on the inside framing of the windows is beautiful. He has worked harder than any previous builder to be sure i was happy with the end result. On a day to day basis, Ed and his workers were professional and easy to "live with". They were always sensitive to avoiding more upheaval than necessary for such a long project. They cleaned up every night and left the place as neat as possible. They always informed me of their arrivals for the next day and of any delays. I would definitely recommend Northwest Tile and Interiors for any of this type of work.- judy l.

Dollins Construction IncThe finished job was excellent! They removed and replaced a very large door wall. The door wall was installed in brick. Dollins arrived with a very large trailer loaded with every tool imaginable, table saws, planers, miters. nailers, etc. Once the old door was removed they replaced the old structure prior to placing the new door in. They replaced all of the trim inside and out. Every piece fit to perfection including caulk around the brick. They completed the job in one day and took the old door with them. They were extremely friendly and courteous.- joe t.

Like a lot of homeowners in west Michigan, the roof of my house sustained damage from a hail storm back in the spring. Thankfully I found Great Lakes Building Concepts on Angie's List. My experience with the company started with them helping me with my insurance company after they had already denied a claim; Aaron clearly found evidence of hail damage, and things were worked out. Great Lakes ended up replacing my roof, my metal carport roof, and my gutters. In all three cases, the work was done quickly, professionally, and the results are amazing. The gutters look much better and were installed in a better fashion than the old ones, and the roof and the venting for the roof is a huge improvement over the vent cap system on my old roof. Great Lakes uses quality materials, and is responsive to phone calls. The carport roof replacement was reasonably priced. I cannot recommend them highly enough, and they will be the first company I contact for future house projects like siding.
