"TLDR: DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! I'm out $12k and have to pay another company to replace the floors Four Seasons destroyed. When I first met with Rob he came to the house I had just purchased and was very confident as he made his way around my house looking at my floors. He explained the type of wood floors the house had and made sure to give me a timeline for how long the job would take. He concretely stated it would take 3 days to complete the work. His confidence gave me confidence that he would do a great job. After receiving the quote for roughly $12,000, we pulled the trigger and hired Four Seasons. We scheduled the work to be done before we moved into the house with the 3-day window Rob stated would take the crew to complete the job. When the crew showed up, they laughed in my face when I told them we were moving in. They said the job would take a week at minimum to complete. I didn't have an option to bump back my move in date as I was moving from across the state and had to move out of our old house. Rob came through and said they will have to do 1 floor first then the other and we'll have to move our furniture around to accommodate. I was annoyed but, it was getting done so, whatever. Once they got our dining room/den sanded down, it was explained to me that the floors were engineered hardwood and they sanded through to the plywood in a few spots. Oops! Rob said "no big deal. We can come back later and replace those few boards." They also never finished reinstalling the shoe molding through roughly 50% of the house. He claimed he would come back "in a couple of weeks to get it finished up." So, I had him come back to replace the boards in the floor and look at the molding in which he said "no, you can't really do that" and said we should just replace the whole floor in that room for "about $4500 to $5000". Understandably, I was p***** but what could I do? Fast forward 6 months and we're in the middle of summer and humidity. With the increase in humidity the parquet floor in the family room buckled in 2 different directions. This floor has been in the house since 1962 and has never buckled. However, when he refinished the floor he said it was "loose and needed tightening." to which he then tightened and glued the ends so it would stay tight. He claimed to have "fixed" the floor. Now it's so tight that it doesn't allow for expansion and contraction. I messaged Rob about this to which he got an attitude and said that it had nothing to do with his work and it was a moisture problem I needed to solve. I let him know this has never happened in the past and he said they I should just contact a different professional. I've had 3 different floor companies all come out and take one look at the floor, shake their head and then apologize for laughing. Every company has let me know how I got screwed in the deal and they the sanding of the engineered wood should never have happened and the "tightening" of the parquet is what ruined the floor. To say that I'm disappointed is the understatement the year. I spent $12k on "refinished" floors that now just have to be completely replaced because Four Seasons came through and essentially destroyed them."

Repair Torn Carpet To fix the torn material, the professional has a few options based on how badly it is torn. Torn or ripped materials with two sides touching one another and no missing sections can be glued or tacked down to create a new seam. However, to fix a ripped material with a missing section, you need to make a patch. This is taken from a spare piece of material, a closet, an inconspicuous area, or the material is stretched, and the excess is used to fix it. Fix Loose Carpet If your material is loose or buckling, This is a trip hazard and looks unattractive, so it should be fixed as quickly as possible. They come loose with a lot of wear and, in some cases, improper installation. Fixing buckling involves stretching the material, removing the excess, and tacking it back down. Carpet Burn Repair The only way to fix a burned surface is to cut the burned area away and patch it. This has a range of expenses based on the burn size and where you get the item from. For example, the iron burn price is higher than a cigarette burn cost. And, a solution made from a remnant costs less than a solution carried out if you need to stretch the material first. Pet Damage Carpet Repair Cost Depending on what needs to be done. Pets do a lot of damage to these surfaces. They cause rips and tears, dig up sections, cause the nap to fray, and urinate on the material, leaving difficult-to-remove odors. With so many issues, there is often a range of solutions needed to restore your carpeting, along with many associated expenses. Your surface may need cleaning and deodorizing, patching, stretching, pad replacement, or subfloor sealing to restore its original appearance. WE also remove stubborn stains!

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

Installing carpet padding is mostly a matter of measuring the room and cutting the carpet pad to size with a utility knife. You can save some money on carpet installation costs by doing it yourself. Before installing the carpet padding, you should install the tack strips around the room’s perimeter and prepare the subfloor by cleaning and making any necessary repairs. Then, unroll the carpet pad and cut sections as needed. Staple the carpet pad to the subfloor along the edges, leaving the tack strips exposed.

Some flooring companies recycle old carpet after replacing it. The broader flooring industry has been moving toward recycling more carpet material. However, whether an individual carpet gets recycled is up to the flooring company that removes it. When gathering quotes for new flooring in your area, ask each company about removal options and what they do with the material.

Yes, you can negotiate the purchase price of new carpet. You may also be able to negotiate installation costs or other fees in addition to the per-foot pricing of the carpet itself. You may have better luck negotiating with an independent retailer (as opposed to a big-box store), as they may have more discretion in pricing, but it’s always worth asking.

Carpet installation costs include carpet type (material, weave), room size, subfloor preparation, and labor costs. Getting multiple quotes provides a clearer picture of expected expenses.

Decent carpet will last around 10 years on stairs. Some less durable carpets, like polyester, will only last five years on stairs. The ideal carpet, like wool or nylon, can last about 15 to 25 years. You’ll know when to replace it when it starts wearing down. You may have to replace it sooner if it's stained, whether due to water damage or pets.
