"Old sump had fried without our knowledge and basement acquired water. Had NO clue on how to replace/reinstall the replacement pump we purchased or hook it up, so we called Dependable. Set up appt for that day, they called back within 2 hours to confirm that their tech Jeremy was on his way. Professional, prompt response, courteous, and took the time to explain the sump system and preventative measures we should take in the future. "Terrible terrible terrible. We contacted Mr. Rooter mid Michigan. Mount Pleasant location. They sent us an unlicensed plumber without telling us. They also advertise that they are BBB accredited and have an A+ rating. They are not BBB accredited and they have an F rating. The plumber with the license that was sent to our home, walked off the job when we asked him to uninstall 3 toilets that were the wrong brand we asked for Toto or Kohler toilets and he installed American Standard. He flipped out, swore at us and walked off the job. We had a water softener replaced as well. The one we replaced was in working condition and he took it with him when we were gonna use it somewhere else. It was never returned, even though we asked for it. They tried to sneak on an extra $500 for an extra hose bit. The most dishonest company I have ever seen from lying about plumbers having plumbing license, lying about Better Business Bureau accreditation, and rating. Lying on invoicing total bill. 14,000"

In the majority of cases, homeowners insurance will not cover a main sewer line root clog. The reason is that most insurance companies consider tree root damage to sewer lines as common wear and tear, which is also preventable. However, you may be able to buy optional add-on coverage, such as "service line coverage" or "sewer line endorsements," that would protect against root damage to your sewer line.

A sewer line should be cleaned at least once every 18 to 22 months. The process takes about 30 minutes or up to 5 hours, depending on the size of the line, how easy it is to access, and how long it’s been since the previous cleaning. If your sewer line hasn’t been cleaned in a couple of years or you don’t even know the last time it’s been cleaned, it’s time to call a pro.

A clogged sewer line is not typically covered by homeowner’s insurance, though some sewer line issues are covered. For instance, damage related to a fallen tree is usually covered.
