"Old sump had fried without our knowledge and basement acquired water. Had NO clue on how to replace/reinstall the replacement pump we purchased or hook it up, so we called Dependable. Set up appt for that day, they called back within 2 hours to confirm that their tech Jeremy was on his way. "Terrible terrible terrible. We contacted Mr. Rooter mid Michigan. Mount Pleasant location. They sent us an unlicensed plumber without telling us. They also advertise that they are BBB accredited and have an A+ rating. They are not BBB accredited and they have an F rating. The plumber with the license that was sent to our home, walked off the job when we asked him to uninstall 3 toilets that were the wrong brand we asked for Toto or Kohler toilets and he installed American Standard. He flipped out, swore at us and walked off the job. We had a water softener replaced as well. The one we replaced was in working condition and he took it with him when we were gonna use it somewhere else. It was never returned, even though we asked for it. They tried to sneak on an extra $500 for an extra hose bit. The most dishonest company I have ever seen from lying about plumbers having plumbing license, lying about Better Business Bureau accreditation, and rating. Lying on invoicing total bill. 14,000"

Snaking a toilet is similar to clearing sinks and bathtubs, but there are unique circumstances where you’d have to drain, disassemble, and remove the toilet to fix the clog. For stubborn clogs in the toilet trap, a toilet auger—designed with a shorter cable and a protective plastic encasing—can navigate the tight bends and clear the clog without risking damage to the porcelain. 

Common drain issues include slow-running drains, whether in a sink or shower, clogged drains, a bad smell, and water backing up into a sink, shower, or bathtub. Causes range from hair, grease, roots, or toilet paper clogging the drainpipes to flooding outside the home, which prevents sewer lines from draining properly.

To get rid of a sewer smell in your crawl space, you’ll have to find the source of the problem. If it has to do with your sewer lines, then repairing the line will help. You may need to make other repairs, like fixing your sump pump or encapsulating your crawl space to reduce moisture. After you make the repair, depending on the issue, you may still need to clean out your crawl space to get rid of the stink.

Your sewer line can get grimy quickly. To prevent sludge buildup in your sewer line, pour a mixture of 1/3 cup of vinegar and 1/3 cup of baking soda down each drain in your home once a month. After about 30 minutes, flush the drain with hot water.

Some plumbers recommend 3/4 cup of bleach instead to clean any germs and bacteria that may build up in your sewer line. But this won’t break down any active clogs, and it cannot be combined with vinegar, as the mixture will create a toxic, hazardous gas.
