"I recently hired Floor Coverings International to install carpeting and laminate flooring in my living room, stairs and hallway. From the first phone call to the final inspection, the experience was positive -- which is not always the case with contractors. Since I wasn't certain what I wanted, owner Ken Kish and his associate, Bella Harper, guided me through the selection process, offered suggestions and ultimately provided several choices for my consideration. On installation day, Ken and installer Marco arrived on time, moved all the furniture and got to work installing my new floor. Marco stayed the entire day until the job was completed. When the job was finished, all debris was cleaned up and furniture restored to its original position, Marco even re-connected all of the cables on my television set. A few days later, Ken, joined by his wife, Amy, visited my home for a post-project follow up to ensure I was satisfied with the work. When I'm ready for my next flooring / carpeting project, my first call will go to Floor Coverings International."

The toilet flange anchors to the subfloor, usually with wood screws or cement screws, but most of it should sit above floor level at full height. When a flange is flush with the subfloor or below it, it can lead to the creation of leak paths.

It’s possible to reuse household materials to cover floors, but they won’t provide the same level of protection as dedicated materials. They’re also more difficult to tape down and more prone to slipping and bunching up—and any dirt or debris on them could scratch or stain your floors. That being said, extra materials like these can be useful for protecting the sides of furniture and placing in areas that could use added protection.

These transition strips are called reducer molding. On the other hand, if you are bridging two floors of the same height, you can use flat transition strips, such as T-strips and seam binders.

Your room doesn’t need to be completely empty to restretch a carpet, but you’ll need enough space that you can move around furniture to access the wrinkled areas and the wall where you’re reattaching the carpet. A contractor will move your furniture out of the way before they start the job, but you can save money by moving your furniture before they arrive.
