"Jakob W., Austin H., and Nathan H. Demonstrate some great team work getting the foundation work done clean and efficient. Fantastic communication before, during, while closing up the details of the project. Each where professional, polite, and positive attitude. Except for the missing steps at the patio door we can hardly notice they had the foundation dug up the day before."

"I would not be hesitant to hire Ben and his crew for any concrete job. He finished the entire driveway in less than 24 hours. It looks amazing. Very professional job and crew. It sure is refreshing to see the pride that is put into his work. I will definitely recommend him to any of my friends or family who need concrete work done. I got his name from Angi’s list and couldn’t be happier."

"Had a huge maple stump in the front yard, from the time I got the estimate till the job was done was about 4 days. They came out and got started on it right away, worked straight through until it was finished. Leveled it out and cleaned the yard and driveway that my wife didn’t even notice the stump was gone. I’m going to pick up some seeds tomorrow to fill in the grass, I’m not including a finished photo because it’s absolutely pouring outside right now. But the job that was done above my expectations. Thank you very much and it was nice to meet you guys."

"Andrew was great! We needed a concrete slab put in our backyard, and he communicated well. The concrete slab is without flaw and he was priced fairly. I would highly recommend Andrew and team. He is a hard worker and pays attention to details."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

For masonry work in Grand Rapids, it’s important to secure scaffolding against wind, use slip-resistant surfaces in icy conditions, and implement dust control measures. Always verify utility locations before digging and use lead-safe techniques in older homes. Workers should wear protective gear, and work should pause during severe weather. Clear communication with your contractor about these safety steps is essential for a smooth project.

Helpful?

Your Grand Rapids home may need masonry work if you observe crumbling mortar, spalling bricks, white powdery residue, or visible cracks—especially in homes over 30 years old or those with historic features. Signs like shifting walls, moisture intrusion, or damage on north- and west-facing sides also indicate a need for professional evaluation. Prompt attention helps prevent further deterioration and costly repairs.

Helpful?

In Grand Rapids, unexpected costs during masonry work can include uncovering deeper brick or stone deterioration, the need for additional foundation stabilization due to shifting clay soil, and extra steps for historic home compliance. You might also face permit or inspection fees, material price fluctuations, and weather-related delays. Always discuss potential contingencies with your contractor before starting your brick repair or stonework project.

Helpful?

Most masonry work in Grand Rapids is scheduled from late spring through early fall, when temperatures consistently stay above 40°F. This ensures proper mortar curing and reduces the risk of weather-related setbacks like freeze-thaw cycles or heavy snow. Planning your brick repair or stonework early in the season helps you avoid scheduling bottlenecks and ensures optimal conditions for long-lasting results.

Helpful?

In Grand Rapids, repair is often more cost-effective for localized issues like minor cracks or mortar deterioration, especially in brick repair or tuckpointing projects. However, if you discover widespread structural damage, severe moisture problems, or extensive freeze-thaw effects, replacement may be the smarter long-term solution. Consulting a local masonry professional ensures the best approach for your home’s needs.
