"Joe was great. I called him late in the day and he showed up within the hour. I had a water leak in my kitchen, sinks hot water supply valve so I had to shut off the water to the whole house. He replaced the leaky hot water supply valve rather quickly. Once again Joe at Capital Plumbing was great."

"Mr Kamienski did an excellent job on my basement.  The usual system he uses did not work in my situation, but he was extremely responsive and immediately came up with an alternative solution for no extra charge.  The mark of a true professional is when something doesn't go quite to plan... Mr Kamienski was responsive, resourceful, and made corrections that are working extremely well.  In fact during the recent flooding in my area, my neighbors' basements were all under water.  My basement is BONE DRY thanks to this company.  I am delighted with his work!
Definitely recommend him again, thank you!

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

Hard water doesn’t hurt, but it might feel more abrasive, especially if you have sensitive skin. It’s also about how your skin feels after bathing. You might feel as though you have a sticky film over your body because you do—it’s all that soapy residue left behind because the hard water can’t rinse it off completely.

The most effective way to fix hard water in your shower is by installing a whole-home water softening system. This system treats water as it enters your home, removing the minerals that cause hardness before they can reach your shower or any other fixtures. While this is the most comprehensive solution, other methods are often temporary fixes. For a more affordable and shower-specific option, you can install a water-softening showerhead or a shower filter. However, these filters are generally less effective and may not remove all the contaminants that lead to limescale and hard water stains. By implementing a water softening solution, you can expect a reduction in mineral deposits and enjoy the benefits of cleaner-feeling hair and skin.

Most experts agree there’s not much difference health-wise between hard water versus soft water. That said, hard water is more likely to cause skin dryness and issues that go along with it, like an itchy or flaky scalp. Hard water can also decrease the life span of your household appliances and make it more difficult for soap to do its job.

Hard water is not considered unhealthy and is safe to drink, cook with, and bathe in. It doesn't pose a risk to your physical health and can even help you get enough essential minerals like calcium in your diet. However, it can negatively affect skin and hair. Using hard water for washing can contribute to dry skin, an itchy scalp, and may worsen conditions like eczema by altering the pH balance. Additionally, some people do not like the taste of hard water.

Drinking hard water is not known to have any negative health impacts. Using hard water can lead to dry skin and hair, and the minerals in hard water can build up in pipes, faucets, and appliances. Hard water is more of a threat to your plumbing than it is to your health.
