"The locksmith, Sam, arrived punctually. He installed a new storm door lock and additionally repaired the face hole of another door lock which had been installed by someone else years ago & needed repair. The price was a bit high, but the professional workmanship was worth it."

I like to think of my self as the best problem solver around. I'm sure there's a million ways to get the job done. But I only want to make sure its done right, The first time.\nI've been doing maintainece repairs for about 2 and half years now. I started off on my own path a couple of weeks ago and I've been off to what seems like a great start. I would be more than willing to see what kinda project you have to throw at this novice repair man.

Doors questions, answered by experts

For minor door service issues in Fraser, you can safely tighten loose hinge screws or lubricate them with a product like WD-40. If a door sticks, try applying bar soap to the edge for temporary relief. You can also replace simple foam weatherstripping. However, avoid forcing a stuck door, which can cause frame damage, and never attempt electrical work on automatic doors.

Helpful?

To make door service projects safer for families in Fraser, MI, consider installing pinch-guard hinges to protect little fingers and door knob covers for toddlers. For pets, choose pet-resistant screen materials for storm doors and ensure any automatic doors have reliable safety sensors. During repairs, always create a clear barrier around the work area and store tools securely out of reach.

Helpful?

The longevity of door service projects in Michigan depends heavily on material choice and installation quality. Fiberglass and steel doors outperform wood in the state's climate. Professional installation with proper insulation and drainage is critical to handle snow melt and temperature extremes. Finally, a consistent maintenance schedule, including seasonal adjustments and prompt repairs, ensures your door withstands the demanding MI weather.

Helpful?

Fraser, MI's climate significantly affects door service projects. Winter's freeze-thaw cycles cause frames to warp and misalign, while road salt corrodes hardware. Ice can also damage weatherstripping. In summer, high humidity makes wooden doors swell and stick, and intense UV exposure can fade and deteriorate finishes. These seasonal shifts require doors that can withstand such dramatic changes.

Helpful?

In Fraser, MI, door maintenance should be performed seasonally. This includes inspecting weatherstripping, lubricating hinges with cold-weather lubricants, and checking door alignment after freeze-thaw cycles. Annually, you should consider refinishing exterior doors to protect against UV and moisture damage, and carefully remove any ice buildup during the winter to prevent damage to seals and frames.
