"The work was spread out over 3 distinct visits to complete all of the work.  All of the electrical rough in for wiring was done on the first two days.  The last day was a few weeks later after the drywall went up.  On the last visit all boxes, receptacles, and final tie ins to the breaker were done.  The work done was excellent and I would recommend Curt from Phase 2 for any electrical work needed around a house.

"I had a fluorescent ceiling lamp that was malfunctioning. I had purchased a new one but was neither accomplished or confident that I could replace it. The gentleman that Essential Electric sent out was able to diagnose the problem and replace the light quickly. I will contact them in the future with any electrical work I need done."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Yes, a leaking water heater can damage electrical work. Water can seep into electrical components, causing short circuits, tripped breakers, or even fires. The combination of water and electricity is quite hazardous, so it's crucial to address any leaks immediately to prevent electrical damage and ensure your home’s safety.

Most household circuits can handle about 70 strings of 50 standard mini lights, or up to 600 strings of LED lights, which consume less power than the incandescent variety. Make sure to factor in any appliances also running on the circuit.

Incorrectly wiring a single-pole switch results in the connected light or device not turning on or tripping the circuit breaker. Although it doesn't matter which terminal the hot wire and the load wire connect to, mixing up a circuit wire with a ground or having loose connections can prevent the switch from working.

GFCI stands for ground fault circuit interrupter, which means it has the ability to detect a ground fault and shut the circuit down before it creates hazards. General breakers may also do that because ground faults can cause overloads, but they’re more focused on amp overloads from any cause. GFCIs are often installed in specific outlets, but breakers can come with GFCI capabilities built in for broader ground fault protection.

Using too many Christmas lights can cause your circuit board to overload which can put your tree at risk of catching fire and potentially damage your home’s electrical grid.
