"Elon inspected my foundation to determine what walls were holding water. He took measurements and took time to share a video of the repair he was recommending. I will have four anchors installed on the problem wall at a very fair price."

"The gentleman who did the inspection arrived a couple of minutes early for our appointment, which I appreciate and respect. He was very personable and even gave some recommendations as to how to go about fixing some things that were pretty much obvious but I would not have known how to take care of them without a professional's input. He answered a number of questions with clear answers that I easily understood. He also gave me some pointers on how to save some money on some of my slated projects. While he did point out a few things that I was not seeing, he failed to go into the crawl space and inspect anything under the house, which is where I figured he would spend the bulk of his inspection time, especially due to the age of the home as it was built in 1882. He also missed one very important area in the bathroom, which I noticed after having the flooring replaced. I need to tear out and replace the sheet rock on the outside wall due to damage from moisture and some extensive mold inside the wall, necessitating remediation and prevention strategies. He missed this because he failed to inspect the wall under the vanity, which was obviously compromised."

"We hired Aden and his crew to install two windows near our kitchen on a wall that previously hadn’t had any. Aden patiently worked with us to find a solution within our budget and began work ONE DAY after signing the contract—well ahead of the timeline we had expected. From start to finish, he was responsive, accommodating, and enthusiastic about our vision. We are quite pleased with his work and would not hesitate to contact him again for future projects!"

Small jobs welcome

"Built to Last Construction was recommended to my husband and me by his brother. They remodeled my bother-in law's kitchen and built him a beautiful deck, which is featured on their website at https://www.b2lconstruction.com. We hired them to remodel our kitchen. It turned out beautiful. Tom even built pull out drawers for my cupboard panty and added a heat vent along the floor. The extra time and detail they took to get it just right was amazing. I recommended them to a friend who is keeping them busy with projects at her home. My friend recommended them to someone else who has had a hard time finding someone to update her deck. She will not be disappointed."

"Cliff and his crew did a great job replacing my roof and gutters and making sure everything was just as I asked. Cliff recommended some new venting as my house didnt have modern ventilation set up (no where for air to flow in and push the hot air out) installed hidden vents and new upper vents."

Wall Repair questions, answered by experts

There are contractors specifically trained in the design and construction of retaining walls. Retaining wall contractors are skilled at dealing with the soil on your property and assessing what kind of drainage should be installed. They will recommend the best materials to use for the project and can handle the processing of permits by local authorities.

Installation typically takes 1-2 weeks, depending on the wall’s size and site conditions.

Most railroad tie retaining walls have a life span of 20 to 30 years, though you may need to replace your wall sooner if it’s repeatedly exposed to heavy rain, runoff, and excess moisture. Railroad ties are typically treated with creosote, which makes them much more durable than untreated wood. Though they last longer, they don’t last forever. For the most longevity, make sure your retaining wall has a sturdy base and steel reinforcements. You should also install drainage to direct water away from the wall.

If you've decided you'd like to skip the cost of restoring a brick exterior wall after considering whether you should repair or replace brick on your house, you can consider installing fiber cement siding over brick for a cost of $2 to $6 per square foot. When done properly, cement siding over brick offers a durable, low-maintenance option that can actually reduce your home's energy costs. It's also attractive. However, improper installation or installation over heavily compromised brick can cause water damage.

Failure to compact the soil during construction is the most common cause of leaning retaining walls. In addition, poor drainage can lead to excessive water pressure behind a retaining wall, pushing against it until it begins to move forward away from the soil it is holding back.
