"Clark builders did a good job! Of course most of it was done during the pandemic when supplies were low or out of stock. We’ve been happy with the work they’ve done and would recommend them to anyone looking to build new home!"

"DeWeese & Associates have been flawless. Brett DeWeese came to our home for the quote and he was very professional and had an answer to all of my questions! The customer service is outstanding. Brett has kept me informed every step of the way for our bathroom refresh (x2) and basement renovation (from ceiling to floors). Amazing team and I have already recommended them to my family."

"I was very impressed with Sentri Homes - their customer service was excellent. They sent a subcontractor to install some vinyl laminate in my bathroom and he ended up getting glue all over the carpet in our bedroom. The sub ended up ghosting both me and Sentri, leaving me stuck with a ruined carpet. Sentri stuck with me for over a month to get the carpet replaced with the identical original and to get the vinyl job 100% completed. The carpet was a Home Depot exclusive and Sentri handled everything with them. I will be using Sentri for a much bigger renovation I have coming up soon, because I know that they will make sure everything gets done right no matter what problems come up. The vinyl looks great too."

"It was perfect. I hired Roger because I trusted him. His company did work for me in 2013 and I was very pleased then. I am even more pleased now! I thought I needed to replace the siding all the way around my house (it's 40 years old). A neighbor painted his and, while it looked okay, the painting was so expensive that I thought I'd see if there was an in-between solution. Roger said he could replace just the south side (first and second floor) and match the existing front and back. I got home tonight and the work is PERFECT. The south side (attached garage on lower level, my office and a bedroom on upper level) have new siding that perfectly matches the 40-year-old stuff AND everything looks new. They did a wonderful job sealing up everything tightly and I couldn't be more pleased. Roger visited this house twice to look at the work as the job specs changed (I kept asking questions and I had some brick work done in between). He was on time, charged a fair price, and confirmed last week that he would be here today. I didn't call or expect a call yesterday, and I had an early appointment at a client's place this morning. Roger called me first thing to say his crew was at my house and he was heading over to check on things. We talked about the job and he informed me that my office window had some messy caulk - he cleaned it up and made sure it was sealed tight for winter. I would hire this company to do any sort of remodeling work and I'm thrilled."

"C & O arrived at the jobsite prompt and ready to work. Both my wife and I appreciated the attention to detail that was given to our flooring and painting projects. C & O finished the project by ensuring clean up was done properly, thus leaving our home in above satisfactory condition. The job was done in an extremely precise manner and the crew left no stone unturned in providing top notch craftsmanship. We would definitely rehire for all of our home improvement needs."

Home Building questions, answered by experts

To ensure your home building project lasts, address the heavy clay soil and deep frost lines in Flushing. Contractors must pour footings below the 42-inch frost depth to prevent structural shifting. Proper drainage, including a sump pump and correct grading, keeps water away from your foundation. Always hire a licensed professional who follows local building codes and installs proper insulation to protect your home against harsh winters.

Helpful?

Start your home building planning by verifying your property's flood zone status and assessing the heavy clay soil. Schedule foundation and concrete work between May and October to avoid seasonal freeze-thaw complications in MI. Always confirm your contractor holds a valid state license. Request utility line locations before any excavation begins, and coordinate with local officials early to confirm zoning rules and drainage requirements.

Helpful?

During home building in Flushing, you must choose your foundation type, especially if building near a flood zone. You are responsible for applying for municipal water and sewer connections, as well as securing permits for your new driveway approach. Decide early whether to install an active radon mitigation system. Work closely with your builder to select an energy compliance path and coordinate all required municipal inspections.

Helpful?

A successful home building job in MI includes a final certificate of occupancy showing all inspections passed. You will see positive drainage sloping away from the foundation and no standing water after rain. Thorough work also features a sealed sump pump system and a passive radon pipe. Check inspection records to verify that footings sit below the 42-inch frost line and insulation meets climate zone requirements.

Helpful?

Certain habits easily damage your home building work in Flushing. Piling landscaping soil against your siding traps moisture and reverses proper drainage. Neglecting gutter cleaning causes water to pool around the foundation, while ignoring sump pump maintenance leads to flooded basements during spring thaws. Avoid overwatering plants near the house, keep attic vents clear, and limit heavy deicing salt use to prevent concrete deterioration.
