"We are very pleased with the work done and love our new counter tops and backsplash. Frank measured and made the template for the counter top was pleasant and easy to talk to. Anthony, Shawn, Dave and Billy did the tear out, did a great job and cleaned everything up before leaving. Counter top guys did a good job. Shawn and Dave did a great job on installing the tile work and helped me with deciding about the placement of the accent tile. Great Job."

Emergency services offered

"Owner, Jeff was very responsive, professional, and helpful. JAM home services offer the full package. We had two bathrooms and a master bedroom painted, some wall repairs, and new light fixtures installed. All work was done perfectly, I would definitely hire again. The crew was punctual and very friendly. They were very professional, worked diligently, and were careful in our home. Jeff went over what they were going to be doing and how the days would go. The crew also checked in to have us view the work they had done. It was a pleasure to work with Jeff and his crew and will be contacting them again for any future jobs that may come."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, tiling a bathroom is a great way to boost your home's value, especially if you are replacing old or dated flooring. Adding a new tile floor can deliver a return on investment (ROI) of around 56.4%, with some projects offering up to 100% ROI. Buyers appreciate new tile because it provides a modern look and is known for being durable, water-resistant, low-maintenance, and easy to clean. For the best results and highest return, consider hiring a professional, as tiling mistakes can be very noticeable and detract from the value.

Solvents dissolve tile adhesive, but the right solvent for the job depends on what type of adhesive you are trying to remove. For instance, dispersion adhesive requires stronger removers, like bile soap or even paint stripper, but some adhesives, like cement-based products, can come off with water and soap or mortar remover.

No, you don’t technically need a cement backer board for a wall tiling project, but not using it risks disastrous moisture damage. Cement is naturally water-resistant, whereas drywall soaks it in, which can lead to warping or mold growth. Always use a backer board treated with a waterproof membrane for bathrooms and other chronically damp areas to ensure complete tile shower waterproofing.

Using caulk is one of the simplest and most recommended methods to finish glass tile edges. It creates an elegant seam between the glass tile and the adjacent area, along with a waterproof seal. With this method, you want to use a caulk color that matches the grout and, along with the grout, compliments the tile. Make sure the caulk line is smooth and even. Alternatively, you can use a bullnose or tile trimming to edge, however, that will also require caulk to seal.

The tile trim you use will depend on a few factors, including design preferences, budget, and whether the project is DIY or not. You might choose plastic trim if you want an easier DIY job that is more budget-friendly. There are also more color options available in plastic. On the other hand, you might choose metal to match your fixtures or for areas with heavy use.
