"Recently hired High-Line Tree Service to remove two massive, hard-to-reach trees from my property—and I couldn’t be more impressed. From start to finish, their team was professional, efficient, and incredibly skilled. These weren’t easy trees to take down, but they handled the job with precision and care, making a tough task look effortless. What really stood out was the cleanup. They left the area spotless—no stray branches, no sawdust trails, just a clean, clear space where two giants once stood. Their pricing was more than fair, especially considering the complexity of the job, and every crew member I interacted with was friendly, respectful, and clearly committed to doing great work. If you’re looking for a tree service that combines expertise with excellent customer care, High-Line Tree Service is the one to call. Highly recommended!"

"Excellent service! They removed a large amount of leaves, branches, brush, and tree debris from my property and hauled everything away. The work was done carefully, and they left the yard spotless. I was impressed enough to hire them again the next day to mow my lawn, and that job was done beautifully as well. Professional, reliable, hardworking, and reasonably priced. I highly recommend them."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Most trees can be successfully transplanted while they are young, but pines, walnuts, and some oak tree varieties are more difficult to move because their root systems grow deeper than most other trees. Also, trees adapted to sandy soil with wide root systems like beeches, willows, and aspens are harder to dig out because their roots spread much farther out from the trunk. In these cases, unless the trees are very young and small, it’s a good idea to consult a tree planting professional.

Whether you should remove the roots of a dead tree depends on whether they’re damaging nearby areas. For instance, if the roots continue to grow near sidewalks, driveways, or the foundation of your home, they can cause damage. If you want to plant something else in that spot, removing the roots can make it easier for the new tree or plant to grow.

Whether you grind or dig up and remove your tree stump depends on your landscaping goals. Using a stump grinder leaves the root system in place for it to decompose over time, whereas digging up the tree stump removes the roots and the stump. Overall, stump grinding is a far simpler process since you won’t need to deal with the roots. Stump removal will make your yard look like a demolition site, but you’ll have an easier time replanting in the same place as your former tree.

Generally, avoid trimming trees in the summer (with the exception of pruning fruit trees as needed). Trees use a lot of energy in the summer, most of which is relegated to new growth. If you chop it too early, you could stunt the next season's growth. Again, when in doubt, do some research based on the specific tree type.

Yes, cutting a tree's roots can cause it to fall, particularly if major support roots are severed. In extreme cases, trimming roots can affect the tree's structure and stability. Many crucial roots are located just below the soil's surface. If you make severe cuts to roots more than 2 inches in diameter, you risk impacting the tree's water flow and its ability to withstand severe winds or storms. Even cutting roots less than half an inch in diameter under or outside the tree's canopy can cut off its water supply, causing it to decline, die, and eventually topple.
