"We hired Clean Cut Painting for a $20K job based on their quick quote and no deposit. While work started fast, the experience went downhill. There were surprise charges, and key items like door handles and outlet covers were removed but never reinstalled. Paint was left on floors, tile, and even on our carpet. When I brought up the carpet damage, Matt said, ?It needed to be replaced anyway??even though we had told him it wouldn?t be. Wall hardware and mirrors were removed with permission, but instead of being reinstalled, everything was tossed in the garage and mixed with trash. On the final Saturday, Matt worked briefly and left his crew to finish. I watched them rush cleanup the moment he left, leaving a mess. I later told Matt he should?ve told his crew he?d be back to inspect?it might?ve led to a better outcome. While I appreciated the fast start and no deposit, the lack of professionalism, poor finish, and dismissive responses mean I wouldn?t hire them again."

Initially, paint will stick to your fence, but it will eventually peel off. Applying primer before painting your vinyl fence will help paint last longer. Certain primers are well-suited to vinyl, which means you can paint vinyl siding with the proper preparation.

Staining or sealing a cedar deck will help it last longer. Cedar may be tough by nature, but without protection, it can still fall victim to moisture, sun exposure, and mildew over time. Applying a stain, sealer, or both creates a shield against the elements, helping preserve the wood’s strength and appearance.

You should wait three to six months after you buy it to paint pressure-treated wood. It needs time to dry from the chemicals applied to it. The paint will not adhere to the treated wood as well if it’s still wet from chemicals. To test the wooden boards, drip water onto them. If the wood absorbs the water, it’s ready for painting. If the water beads up, it’s not dry enough to paint yet. You can build your deck or fence while the treated wood is still wet, but you’ll need to paint it later.

Pressure-treated wood can not only be painted and stained, but it should be; doing so will help to prevent surface or deck board cracking. Allow the wood to dry out before painting it, as pressure-treated wood from the hardware store takes longer to dry than kiln-dried lumber. If water beads on the surface, it needs additional time to dry—in fact, it can take weeks or even months to fully dry. As soon as the wood absorbs water on the surface, it is ready to be painted or stained.
