"We replaced our bathtub with a walk in shower, and are extremely happy with the work that was provided. In only took one person 6 hours to complete the job, and he was very professional and the quality of work was great. Would hire them again."

"The door is quite nice; both storm and inside door. It is just that it took 4 trips for the installer to get the storm door hung properly and to get a replacement lock that didn't work and then to be able to get the lock in the proper alignment with the door frame. It was a problem but the installer did make it right. They are nice doors but storm door needed more than a few adjustments before it was right. Also, when "Jamie" the rep that sold us the inside door, assured us that the original molding (inside frame) would remain and be able to stay intact. We have an antique house and we want to keep it as authentic as possible. When the installer arrived, and I left the room for a couple of hours, I came downstairs to find that there was a brand new and PLAIN door frame on the inner wall. I was furious, he was defensive - "It wouldn't have worked - door is too wide." Whatever. But, it regard to that, which was quite important to me, the salesman didn't really care to check on that before he assured us that it would be no problem, keeping the original molding. I guess he was too anxious to sell us these quite expensive doors. I did have co-operation but I must say, the delays in communication or lack thereof, were a problem."

Bathtub Replacement questions, answered by experts

Whether converting a tub to a shower is worth it depends on your personal circumstances and priorities. For many, a shower is a safer option that reduces the risk of slip-and-fall accidents, making it a valuable upgrade. It can also be a worthwhile conversion if a shower is more practical for your lifestyle and you rarely use the tub. However, there are potential downsides to consider. The cost, which can range from $1,200 to $8,000, can be a deterrent. Additionally, if you have young children, a bathtub is often easier for bathing them. Finally, removing the only bathtub in a home can potentially lower its resale value in the eyes of some buyers.

Different bathtub materials have various advantages and disadvantages. Cast iron and copper are considered the most durable materials because they are dense and resistant to damage from scratches or dents. However, cast-iron tubs are heavy, expensive, and may not be suitable for upper floors. Copper offers unique benefits but requires regular chemical treatment to prevent a patina from forming, making cast iron a less maintenance-intensive option. Porcelain is a good second choice for durability. For those on a budget, acrylic is a popular option, though it is less durable.

If you don’t caulk your bathtub, then there won’t be a watertight seal between your bathtub and the wall tile surrounding it. As a result, water can seep into the wall and the floor and cause the perfect breeding grounds for mold and mildew. Not only does this require costly repairs, but mold can be harmful to those breathing it.

Bathtub and shower liners come in different colors, so make sure you select one to match the rest of the bathroom. Hire a local bath liner installer for the job since they have the expertise, tools, and materials to install it correctly. Request at least three quotes from various contractors and compare their rates and services.

Professionals can enhance bathroom aesthetics by recommending and implementing design elements such as modern fixtures, high-quality tiles, and efficient layouts. They ensure cohesive style, compliment functionality, and an enhanced visual appeal in the space.
