"This was one of the worst experiences in my life!! After After 6 weeks of horrible communication I still have no tub I followed up with a certified hot tub tech who informed me that due to the fact my hot tub is sunken into the floor there is no access to the control box. You CANNOT change out a heater without access to this box. Pool 2 Perfection should have known this. They never should have charged me for parts that are not properly connected to the control box because they will never work. Now I an out $855 and still have a non-functioning hot tub. He does not know what he is doing and should have never agreed to service the Hot Tub. Now he will not even respond to me. I offered to pay the service call and he can come and get his part that is of no use to me."

It’s less expensive to leave your hot tub on all the time, though you’ll want to keep it at a reduced temperature. How much you use the hot tub is also a factor. You’ll want to keep it at a constant temperature between 80 and 95 degrees Fahrenheit for weekly or daily use, then bump it up right before you get in. If water is left inside the hot tub pump over a cold winter, it could freeze and severely damage the pump, water lines, and jets. That can cause leaks, which require very expensive repairs. Freezing or leftover water can stain and damage the hot tub shell, which leads to replacement. Even in mild climates, leaving sitting water in the tub or pipes for a long period of unuse is a bad idea, since disinfecting chemicals fade and the water can develop bacteria, algae, and other big headaches when it’s time to use the tub again.

To refill a hot tub after winter, start by opening up the tub and giving it a quick cleaning. If you use antifreeze, drain out the water then grab a hose and thoroughly clean the tub shell out, spraying water into each jet of the tub. 

Reconnect the hot tub and turn the power back on. When it’s time to fill the tub again, insert the hose into the filter well (if available). Avoid trapping too much air in the water lines, which can cause the pump to lock up when it starts again. Add the necessary chemicals and start the heating process. It will take some time—most of a full day—for the water to heat up again.

Maintenance is also easier, typically involving balancing the pH and cleaning the tub rather than adding chemicals.
