"Jim was there very promptly and spent two days doing the work. He was very thorough and neat and explained how everything worked when completed.  Jim was very personable and friendly and easy to talk with. He called us a few days later to check on us to see that we were happy and asked if we had any questions. He also stuck with his quotes.
Would definitely hire him again for any future electrical work.

Provided helpful information on how to decrease energy costs by changing light bulbs to LED, and the process to remove harmful materials. "Doug was prompt, courteous, professional and skilled throughout the entire job. He called right away to set up an appointment and give me a ballpark maximum for the job. He also provided a courtesy call the morning of the appointment. Doug replaced and resecured an exterior electrical box for an outdoor garage light. He was so quick, that we had him fix another light that was in a similar, but less severe, condition. The cost for the work on both lights was less than the ballpark maximum for one. We couldn't be happier with the work and I made sure to put Doug's contact info right in my phone after he was finished."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

If you have a lamp that flickers or doesn’t stay on, it’s a sign that it’s time to rewire it. Additionally, it’s important to rewire antique lamps so they’re safe to continue using without the risk of an electrical fire. If the plug on your lamp is more than 15 years old or you notice poor performance like flickering, you should hire a lamp repair service to rewire it. If you’re upgrading the bulbs in an antique lamp from incandescent to LED or CFL bulbs, rewire it so it’s compatible with the modern bulbs.

Yes, GFCI breakers are required for all outdoor outlets. This code requirement applies to all outlets located on balconies, decks, patios, and other outdoor lounge spaces. In addition, outdoor outlets need to have watertight covers that provide protection when cords are plugged in. If you have an older home that may not be up to code, it's a good idea to also ask your electrician about adding GFCIs to some indoor areas. Kitchens, bathrooms, basements, and any other areas of a home that are commonly exposed to moisture should have GCFI breakers.

The main reason outlets become loose is because the contact points have started to wear down after years of use. Occasionally, poor wiring can cause heat or sparks that can damage the outlet and cause it to become loose. Either way, if your plugs slide out after being inserted into the outlet, it’s time to replace it.

The color code for the common sprinkler wire is white, and then you can assign the remaining color codes to the rest of the wires for different sprinkler zones. For example, you could use red for the first zone, then blue for the second, and so on.

Color-coding helps you keep track of which wires go to specific zones so that you or a pro can address any issues or repairs quickly. Check your local electrical code for any requirements regarding sprinkler wire colors.

You're in luck, because replacing a breaker panel is not a regular occurrence that most homeowners have to worry about. Electrical breaker panels last 25 to 40 years, assuming you properly maintain your system and conduct annual inspections. Factors like load demand and exposure to the elements slightly reduce a breaker panel’s lifespan.
