I am a retired contractor from the Midwest. Dee and I supplement our income with handyman work. We have hundreds of references for all sorts of projects, (as listed). The cost of operating a vehicle forces us to charge a trip charge if we are asked to travel out of the Golden Valley area. That charge varies according to distance but starts at $35.00 for more that 25 miles. All of our work is guaranteed. Parts are subject to the manufacturer's warranties.

"The last was a rental company that we have and we used them for an air conditioning and heating system. It was Bototach Mechanical. It’s been a good program for us. They’re very responsive. I don’t know what the thought process was. My husband said, well let’s try these guys and so we did. We have an older home and it’s proved to be a very good deal. The quality has been pretty good, so I would give them an A for the quality. I will give you one helpful hint though. If the company decides they want to replace an appliance, you need to call them and negotiate with them because you can upgrade, but you need to talk to them in person not just do it over the internet."

Solar Panels questions, answered by experts

Yes, installing solar panels or a solar roof can increase your home's value by approximately 4% to 6%. For a home with a median value of $429,000, this could translate to an increase of around $17,000. A well-maintained solar installation appeals to environmentally-conscious buyers and those looking to lower their utility bills, often helping homes sell faster and at a premium in areas with high electricity rates. However, the exact increase in value depends on factors like the local real estate market, energy costs, and available solar incentives. It's also important that the system is correctly installed and maintained; an older or poorly maintained system may not add significant value, particularly if it's near the end of its lifespan. Other solar features, like panels on a shed, can also boost your home's value.

There are a few qualifying questions you should ask a local solar panel company before hiring them:

  • Will you handle permits for the installation?

  • Does your total price include the equipment and labor?

  • How long do you expect the installation process to take?

  • What kind of workmanship warranty do you include with your installations?

  • Who should I contact if I have a problem with my system after installation?

  • Do you install the panels or outsource the work to third parties?

  • Will you file for solar incentives for me?

In most cases, solar panels are covered by homeowners insurance because they are considered a permanently attached part of the home, and you may not need additional coverage. However, it is essential to read the fine print of your specific policy to understand the extent of the coverage, as some policies might only cover certain types of damage, such as hail. Always check with your insurance provider before installing solar panels to ensure your policy provides adequate coverage for your investment.

Yes, solar panel installation will require permits. The required permits will depend on where you live, as some states and cities have solar-specific permits, while others only require electrical permits to connect to the grid. In either case, it’s best to hire a reputable solar installer in your area, as a representative should handle all of the necessary permitting for you and will include the cost of the permits in your initial solar estimate.

In most cases, yes, solar panels are well worth the investment. Going solar with your home’s energy is expensive, but, in most states, the panels will pay for themselves by reducing your electric bills. Solar panels don’t produce greenhouse gasses or other pollutants, meaning you can feel good about using this renewable energy source to power your home. Plus, installing solar panels can boost your home value, helping your profit off your next home sale.
