"Very happy with Mr. Appliance. They arrived in a timely manner, placed a clean rug outside my door and placed clean booties over their shoes, keeping everything clean (this impressed me as most repair people or service people just track in whatever is on their feet. They found the issue with my dishwasher not draining and explained what needed to be done. I would definitely use them if I needed any appliance fixed."

Small jobs welcome

"After one call they came to my home, picked up my old computer and the same day delivered the news that (as expected) it was beyond repair. They transferred all data to a new tower and returned and installed. Their on-line tech worked out a few areas. I could not be happier. Would recommend this company for their great service, products and amazing staff."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

The most likely cause of accidentally flashing lights is that a regular bulb has been replaced with a flash bulb by accident. If that’s not the case, you should look for a bulb on the strand that is not quite seated properly and will lose its connection when it’s touched or moved.

Soldering is a reliable and durable way to connect wires, but it isn't the only method. Nowadays, professionals often crimp the connection instead—although this requires a higher degree of skill than soldering.

While washers and dryers do not require a GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter) outlet to function properly, electrical codes often mandate their use for safety. The National Electrical Code (NEC) requires GFCI protection for all outlets within six feet of a water source. This means a washer and dryer must be plugged into a GFCI outlet if they are installed in locations like a laundry room, utility room, garage, or basement. In other areas without a nearby water source, there is no specific requirement, but using a GFCI outlet is still recommended for extra peace of mind. It is always best to consult your local codes and regulations to ensure compliance and safety.

Under-cabinet lighting is generally energy-efficient, especially when using LED technology. Compared to traditional ceiling lighting or older bulb types like halogen and incandescent, LED under-cabinet lights consume significantly less energy, which helps reduce operating costs. This applies to various forms, including strip lights, puck lights, and built-in fixtures. For an option that uses no electricity, consider battery-operated puck lights. While they require periodic battery replacements, they have the added advantage of functioning during a power outage.

Most 200-amp panels have 40 to 42 slots, which can accommodate 40-42 single-pole breakers or 20 double-pole breakers. Some panels can accept even more circuits through the use of tandem breakers. The exact number of breakers allowed is determined by the panel manufacturer's rating, which you can find on the panel itself. It is important to avoid using all breakers at the same time; as a general rule, you should not use more than 160 amps of power at once to prevent overloading your 200-amp system. For specific guidance, it's best to check your panel's rating or consult with a qualified electrician.
