"First, we have a working well again and secondly, Justin made time to get the the new pump/motor in the next day. He called and I sent him pictures of the well pit, air bladder, and pump/motor so he knew what he needed to bring to make the replacement. One plumber who had installed the new air bladder had suggested I take the pump/motor out and take it to a place to have it rebuilt. How many people have 18" & 24" long pipe wretches- The price was right on the estimate too! Thanks Justin."

"Mike Dyer and his crew are excellent! Wonderful service, knowledgeable, and very professional. Mike, himself, replied to my request on the weekend and came out on a Sunday to try to repair our well pump. I am so thankful we went with Dyer Well Drilling!"

"Very quick and responsive. Came out the same day. We weren't sure if it was electrical or if our well pump was bad. He came with his well truck just in case so we didn't have to wait. He explained the problem and traced it back to electrical we just had installed, so really helped us. Was so kind and nice. I would hire Downing Well Drilling in a second again and will be telling anyone I know who needs service about them! Thank you!"

"Went OK. They did the work and it 'mostly worked' when they were done. I say mostly because the pressure valve was blowing off of the boiler when they were done (This was NOT happening before they had done the work). I had noticed this the day after I had paid. I contacted them and they wanted to replace the expansion tank and charge me $200. I asked - shouldn't this be covered under the initial work of $4600? They said the part wasn't explicitly in the quote. Frankly at this point to replace what really was a $40 part and half hour of time to do a fully finished job (for $4600). For 1. How am I supposed to know (as a customer) what should be on the quote for a fully finished job (pumps, piping, etc? - they are the expert) 2. How am I supposed to know this isnt their fault. (Shouldnt an autofilling expansion tank be connected to the incoming water supply?) Frankly not standing fully behind their work and making sure they do everything to do a good, finished job - left a 'bad' taste in my mouth. In the end I replaced the auto-filling expansion tank with an Extrol expansion tank for $40 and it took me less than an hour. After that it all appears to work."

"Went well to this point of replacing parts. Then the United needed to have a system leak test and then needed freon put in pump. This was refused by Choice warranty. We were left with a partial repair and a heat pump not able to do it's job."

"

After the water removal guys finished in came the project lead - Dave.  The office team re-worked projects and got us in early due to the continued leaking.  Added a temp cistern/and blast tube to outside in a matter of hours.  Returned on the planned date and finished the new drain system in 2.5 days.  Also installed the new, monster of dryness dehumidifier.

Recommended the contractor to cut out water damaged drywall and repaint.

Excellent work and cistern is running all the time as the water table defrosts.

A mess gone well

"I didn't like it at all. First, the guy did not look professional to me and secondly he did not work for two hours. For the main job that I wanted him to do, he started saying that he needed to break toilet and he was trying to charge me more money which I did not do. They were two people and they did not look professional and they didn't act professional either. I hired another person and he removed the toilet and did what I wanted. He removed the clogging and put it back. I wouldn't call him again. I paid them additionally to change the faucet.

Wells and Pumps questions, answered by experts

A well pressure tank is located between the well and the well pump, and it stores your water under pressure so that the well pump can eventually do its job. The well pump is activated whenever you turn a faucet on—it pulls the water from the tank into your home. Both are vital parts of a complete well water system.

No. Well pump replacement is not recommended as a DIY project, particularly if you have a deep well and a submersible pump. Plumbing and electricity are best left to the pros, especially when something like your well pump includes both. Even when troubleshooting your pump, it pays to have a partner standing by for your assistance and safety.

Some states and municipalities restrict well pump repair and replacement to licensed plumbers and technicians, while others don’t have requirements. However, it’s always a good idea to hire a certified plumber to repair or replace well pumps and water pumps. Certified professionals are far more likely to get the job done correctly and prevent future issues, which is especially important for ensuring access to clean water for your home.

A submersible pump should be at least 10 feet from the bottom of the well to minimize the risk of the pump drawing debris into the well water. Submersible pumps work best for wells that are 25 feet deep or less. If you have a deeper well, choose a jet pump instead of a submersible model.

If you’re going away on vacation or leaving your home for a long time, it’s a good idea to switch off your well pump and pressure tank before you go. This way you can prevent any damage from unexpected leaks that may occur or unforeseen electrical issues while you’re away.
