"Excellent - I ended up hiring someone to help with shopping and finishing piece - waste of time and money. Jill's service was by far the most useful and best value in my decorating process.

"The painter sent to perform the work was punctual, pleasant, communicative, prepared, and knowledgeable in his trade. He discussed with me what could be performed in the allotted time and her performed the work diligently. The ceilings turned out well. At one point, he needed to step out for a tool and did not count that against the time I paid for. Great job.

"Sterve arrived on time and immediately went to work.  I estimated the job would take only a couple of hours however, I was quite wrong!  Removing the glass tiles was a very tedious job but Steve never got impatient or upset.  He remained professional and completed the job in approximately three and a half hours, working non-stop the entire time!

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

Costs range from $5 to $15 per square foot for installation and $150 to $600 for repairs, depending on the material and complexity.

Grouting hearth tiles is one of the most important steps. It seals the tiles so heat doesn’t transfer under the tiles so easily, which can be dangerous. For this reason, heat-resistant grout is a must. Grout also prevents dust, dirt, and any other material from gathering between your tiles. If this happens and those buildups are flammable, a fire could start between the tiles.

Yes, you can tile over existing tiles in a bathroom, but it is not always recommended. For this method to be successful, the original tile surface must be clean, flat, and free of damage such as cracks, unevenness, mold, or mildew. While tiling over existing tiles can save time and money, there are potential drawbacks. The new adhesive may not bond properly, and the process adds extra weight to the wall or floor. Additionally, the increased height of the surface could interfere with door clearances. For the best and most durable results, removing the old tiles before installing new ones is generally the better option.

You cannot tile directly over hot mop waterproofing because tile requires a smooth, solid surface to adhere properly. Additionally, the shower bed pan needs to be raised and sloped toward the drain to prevent water from pooling. However, you can hot mop and apply a sloped mortar bed over the top (to which the tile can then be adhered).

Options include clay, concrete, and slate tiles. Each offers unique durability, aesthetics, and costs.
