"We hired them to help us with the remodel and reconstruction of our cottage and they installed new windows and doors, siding and soffit, built a new deck with handrail and also demolished our garage and built a new one for us complete. We were very pleased with the quality of the workmanship and the time frame things were completed. Yes, cracked tiles allow water to seep through the substrate or subfloor, leading to mold and mildew growth. It can also cause severe structural damage. At the very least, water damage can cause your tile to lift from the substrate, meaning one cracked tile can lead to several cracked tiles. It’s a good idea to waterproof tile in areas with direct water exposure or lots of moisture.

Natural stone floors, especially pebble-style tiling, are one of the least slippery options for a shower floor. Natural stone has a texture to reduce slickness, and pebble-shaped tiles add more visual and textural contrast while reducing slippage. Vinyl tiles are also designed with anti-slip texture for added safety. If you have a slippery tile, be sure to add a grippy shower mat to reduce the risk of falls.

You can technically install tile over tile, but we don’t suggest it. For the best results, only install new tile on a flat, sanded surface like subflooring or concrete that is prepared for tile.

If you have asbestos tile and would rather tile over it than remove it, or if your existing tile is completely flat and bonded tightly to the floor, you may be able to tile over existing tile. But experts recommend thinking twice before you do.
