Small jobs welcome

"My husband and I needed a painter to completely repair and paint a condo and we needed it done quickly!. From our initial contact via phone to completion of the project, Adrian was the consummate professional! During our very first conversation, Adrian gave a brief overview of his background, his experience and his work ethic. When we first met at the project, my husband and I were convinced we wanted to hire Adrain and AS Painting for the job! He listened to what we expected, made some suggestions and clearly outlined his plan of action. He kept us apprised daily of his progress with texts and pictures. He more than exceeded our expectations with the quality of his work! We were thrilled to find our new home in such a superior condition at our first viewing! Adrian not only is an expert at his trade but is such a delightful, friendly person to work with. He is simply a joy to deal with! For several upcoming projects, Adrian and AS painting will be our first call!"

"I was at wits end finding a contractor and lucked out getting Clean Slate Home Services. Not only did Josh(owner) return my call but he also answered my questions without making me feel like a nuisance. He quickly came out, looked at the roof and gave me a reasonable estimate. The work he and his crew did was quick, and made sure they didn't cause me any inconvenience to my going in and out of the house or driveway. Any future repair or remodeling will be using this company."

Customers say: Quick response

"Very happy with Capital Drywall. And communicates well, schedules, the work effectively, and he and his team do excellent work. I’m so glad I found them. They did all the drywall finish work, priming, and applied ceiling paint for our new construction in law apartment. Not only did they save this DIYer a boatload of time and energy, but their results are far superior to anything I could have done. Be sure to hire Capital Drywall for all your drywall needs. You won’t be sorry. Worth every penny. Photo show progress on second skim coat."

Wall Repair questions, answered by experts

With foundation walls, the slab on grade and force at the top of the wall is resisted by flooring. With retaining walls, the force at the top of the wall is not resisted.

If you don’t backfill a retaining wall—either at all or adequately enough—the wall won’t drain well, and water will be able to pass through it. Poor drainage will lead to a warped wall or a buildup of hydrostatic pressure, which can eventually collapse your retaining wall. If you have particularly sloped land, consult a structural engineer to ensure your hardscaping is adding value to your home.

Costs depend on material type, labor rates, and additional features like decorative finishes or reinforcement.

There are contractors specifically trained in the design and construction of retaining walls. Retaining wall contractors are skilled at dealing with the soil on your property and assessing what kind of drainage should be installed. They will recommend the best materials to use for the project and can handle the processing of permits by local authorities.

Railroad ties can be good for retaining walls, but it depends on the area. They have a desirable rustic look and are durable. The problem is they’re treated with creosote, a preservative the EPA says poses a risk to humans and wildlife. Over time, the preservative seeps out of the wood and into the ground. Many areas have banned the use of creosote-treated wood on residential properties. If your area does allow it, never use railroad ties near an edible garden or drinking water source. Instead, use wood that’s treated with an EPA-approved preservative or a wood-alternative composite material.
