"Bart Flanaganâ s tree service was an excellent company to work with. This company gets things done quickly and efficiently at a good value. I had a gentleman come out the day I called and he gave me a reasonable quote for my job then and there. Two weeks later there they were right at 8:30 ready to go. Five men worked the entire time they were at my house taking down a gigantic pine and trimming up a number of other trees. They were amazing at taking down this huge tree safely and quickly. They cleaned up nicely and were very pleasant to speak with throughout the day. If I had any more trees to take down or prune Iâ d hire them in a second. Excellent work. Thank you Bart."

"We hired Evanâ s Tree service to remove a large tree and trim several more. They arrived exactly when they said they would, worked quickly and were very conscientious of our property. They went above and beyond to clean up our yard when they were done. We cannot say enough good things about this company and would definitely hire them again."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

If you want to take your tree-planting hobby beyond your outdoor space, here are a few great ways to do it:

  • Encourage your neighbors to participate in the Arbor Day Foundation’s Tree City USA program, which has a four-step framework that helps communities grow and maintain their own tree cover.

  • Support businesses that plant trees.

  • Lobby your local government to plant more trees around your community.

  • Donate to a tree-planting charity.

Since each tree is different, it’s impossible to say how long a dead tree can remain on your property. While it could be days, months, or even years, it’s highly likely that, at some point, the tree will fall. In the meantime, dying or dead trees can become a haven for pests, so it’s best to have them removed sooner rather than later.

Firewood tends to be cheaper during the spring and summer. When the demand for firewood is lower during these seasons, many firewood companies offer lower prices and added discounts. In addition, the supply of firewood is typically higher in these months, meaning the quality is typically higher as well.

Trees provide many benefits, including shade, habitat for local wildlife, and cleaner air, so it’s always a good idea to try an alternative strategy like crown reduction before you chop one down. But sometimes, cutting down a tree is the only option (like if it’s severely diseased). A licensed arborist can assess the tree and recommend the best course of action.

A tree can split because of high winds, a change in temperature, or from an infestation or tree disease. All of these factors can overlap, making a single cause difficult to pinpoint. While winter storms are some of the most common causes for a tree to split, it can also happen because of termites or rot.
