My name is Clyde Fowler, Jr. and I grew up in Randolph, ME. I started Fowler's Roofing 13 years ago and have been providing roofing services, masonry work, and full construction work all over the state of Maine for over 17 years. My staff and crews are very reliable and professional. When we approach a job from the free estimate to the finished product the number one goal is establishing trust with the homeowner and to provide them with 100% satisfaction. We are proud members of the Better Business Bureau, the Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce. We are fully certified and insured and we offer a 24 hour emergency service serving the state of Maine as well as a 5 year Warranty on Labor. Free Estimates!

"Fowler roofing should be avoided at all cost! When I first moved in here I had 5 jobs done by them over about a year. Two roofing jobs and 3 general contractor jobs. Two years after the work I am left with two leaky roofs, broken shingles, shingles blown up in the wind, a laminate floor in my kitchen with 3/8 inch + gaps ALL over the floor and two doors that will not close nor latch properly. But the epitome was when we had a storm move through and I had a roof leak - from a roof they did - that even took down part of my kitchen ceiling and ruined some of my cabinets. I called Fowler and they sent somebody over who found the issue. He didn’t say much about it, just that they would get back to me. I received in the mail an “estimate “ of $650.00 to repair the roof, they wouldn’t even look at my kitchen. I and a different roofer inspected the roof and found the problem- when the workers had installed one of the boots around a vent pipe they had cut the boot to a larger size than the actual pipe diameter. Instead of replacing the boot, they filled the gap with a big wad of silicone, which didn’t hold up. $650.00 to fix a problem they created! And not a mention of the thousands in damages to my kitchen. So within two years all 5 jobs have “failed”. I was embarrassed to even have people over things were so bad - my floor was worse than before their work. I was taking a drink of water when I read over Clyde’s comments at the top of this page and I seriously almost choked at the ludicrous comments. But after some thought, I found that perhaps he was partially correct: I TRUST that Fowler’s does poor work I TRUST that Fowler’s does NOT HONOR their warranties I TRUST that I will NEVER do business with Fowler’s again I TRUST that for the rest of my life I will tell and warn everyone I meet about Fowler’s I TRUST that this review and these others that talk about the quality and longevity of Fowler’s work will help you and you decision And I TRUST that Fowler’s takes advantage of disabled veterans"

Home Building questions, answered by experts

Modular homes can be a great investment, especially for those who find the prices of stick-built real estate too high. Modular homes are usually much more affordable because they’re mass-manufactured and then assembled on-site or delivered mostly assembled. If they’re installed properly and by professionals, they can last for between 50 and 100 years, potentially making them an outstanding investment.

In the U.S., original and converted carriage houses are most often found in New England, New York, and other parts of the Northeast. New construction carriage houses can be found across the country, and are often added to properties with Colonial-style homes for additional living, storage, or work space, although they can be found in many different styles.

The average cost to build a modular home is around $270,000, and most modular homes total between $180,000 and $360,000. Of course, this price varies significantly by location, and the price tends to follow the cost of living in the area. There are quite a few other factors at play that can affect your pricing, including the following:

  • Number of bedrooms and bathrooms

  • Site preparation, including land clearing and leveling

  • Type of foundation

  • Utility connections

  • Cost of building permits

Tiny houses, often called tiny homes, need between 100 to 400 square feet, with the most common size being between 200 and 300 square feet. Tiny houses more than 400 square feet venture into apartment-size dwellings and may be considered more of a traditional house than a tiny home. The number of occupants, desired lifestyle, and furniture will all be major factors that determine the desired tiny house size.

Painting countertops can take a few days to complete yourself. However, keep in mind that it can take up to 14 days for the sealer to cure. So, you want to make sure you wait the manufacturer's recommended amount of time before using your countertops after painting them.
