"Very happy with Capital Drywall. And communicates well, schedules, the work effectively, and he and his team do excellent work. I’m so glad I found them. They did all the drywall finish work, priming, and applied ceiling paint for our new construction in law apartment. Not only did they save this DIYer a boatload of time and energy, but their results are far superior to anything I could have done. Be sure to hire Capital Drywall for all your drywall needs. You won’t be sorry. Worth every penny. Photo show progress on second skim coat."

We specialize in those projects not large enough for frame to finish builders and too big for the average handyman, like kitchen and bath renovations, decks and porches, heat pump installations, tile work and cabinetry just to name a few. Diversity and experience are the benchmarks of our success. Decades of trades work leads to refined skills from conception and design to intricate finishes. I spent years as an electrician before advancing into general contracting and whole home renovations. This allows me to handle all tasks on any given project rather than involving multiple costly sub-contractors. We take pride in the level of communication and involvement given to our customers, empowering them to be involved and make informed choices leading to the upmost satisfaction with the final product. Quality and attention to detail never waiver in our approach to contracting, simply put we will not cut corners to cover cost. Customer satisfaction is the most important metric by which we measure successful outcomes. My father tought me the trades and his father taught him so the tradition of Mainers helping neighbors and being accountable are values deeply ingrained in my work and way of life. Let us help you get your "to do".....done. -Carpentry -Electrical -Plumbing -Renovations -Heat pumps (mini-splits) -Kiitchens (including custom countrrtops in any finish, custom cabinetry, tile and even design -Baths -Decks, porches, patios and hardscapes -Painting -Drywall -Repairs - as well as all other services you may need !

My specialty include flooring, trim, painting, epoxy bartops, drywall repair, almost any job a contracting company does not want to take on because the smaller scale of your project. My best trait of my company is that I will show up no matter how big or small your project is. A lot of companys might not want smaller jobs and thats where I come in. I have owned and operated this business for the past 6 years and have accomplished many projects from decks to changing vent fans in bathrooms and additions. I work with a couple different contractors for bigger jobs that require more people and we all believe that good planning puts out the better finished project. If there is a job I can not do I am more than happy to give out names to some one better at that task and is able and willing to talk with you and figure something out.

Drywall questions, answered by experts

The time it takes for thinset to dry is determined by your room’s ambient temperature and humidity levels. Assuming the average humidity level is around 40% with an average temperature of 70 degrees Fahrenheit, thinset can dry within 48 hours. Lower temperatures and higher humidity can extend the curing process beyond 72 hours, while high heat and zero humidity can shorten the curing process. However, thinset can crack if it dries too fast.

Yes, wainscoting is installed directly over drywall. However, ensure the drywall is in good shape since it will support the wainscoting. If the drywall has issues, such as holes, mold, or mildew, repair them before installing the wainscoting. Alternatively, you can install a plywood substrate before attaching the trim.

Installing drywall will cost between $1.50 and $3 per square foot for materials, labor, and finishing, which is quite a bit lower than the average of $9 to $13 per square foot for a drop-tile ceiling. So, while drop ceilings allow more design flexibility, provide easy access to utility lines above them, and are often much easier and less expensive to repair, they do cost more upfront. You can minimize your drop ceiling cost by opting for more affordable fiberboard panels, although some homeowners don’t like the look of this material.

You may need to replace drywall because of smoke damage. If the drywall is covered in soot, you may be able to clean it, but it will require a lot of time and effort. You could spend hours cleaning the drywall only to find there is more damage and it needs to be replaced anyway. It’s usually easier and safer to remove the smoke-damaged drywall and replace it.

The average life span for drywall is between 40 and 60 years, although panels can last significantly longer in many cases if it’s well-maintained. Of course, many things can reduce the life span of your drywall, including fire, smoke damage, water, moisture, and physical damage, like dents and holes. Thankfully, you’re likely to get around 50 years of value out of professionally-installed drywall, making the $2,000 you’ll spend on the job well worth it in the long run.
