Brian was very responsive to my request for a quote and provided that quote promptly. His quote was very competitive and his reviews were excellent, so we selected his company to prep and paint the exterior of our house and attached garage. During the prep, Brian found several necessary repairs, met with our contractor to point them out, and worked around the contractor's schedule and work crew. Due to his experience, he was able to tell us which repairs were critical to prevent further damage and which were cosmetic. His advise was very helpful and consistent with the advise of our contractor. The completed work is beautiful and should protect our house for years to come. Brian was always responsive to telephone or text messages and was pleasant and professional on site. I would highly recommend him to any friend and would definitely use him again.

I was very impressed with my first contact with Brian Houston. I posted a message on Angie's List and he promptly called me back. He was friendly and professional.
Our house was painted by Brett Hall and his father, Dave. The have worked together with Houston Painting in the past and cover more of southern Maine. Brett was responsive to my emails up until the start date. They showed up promptly on the first day and performed all the work very efficiently and with excellent quality. They were very neat as well.
I would not hesitate to use Brett Hall and Houston Painting again. Highly recommended.

I asked Brian to paint two rooms including preparation of bare trim and correction of minor surface deficiencies in existing drywall. While the contract specified two coats, I am certain Brian did whatever was necessary to ensure a proper appearance, including applying an extra coat of paint where appropriate. I was very satisfied with the quality of the work as well as the communication before, during, and after completion of the project.
Brian is in high demand given his well-established business reputation. I recommend booking well in advance of your preferred start date. Liability insurance was verified prior to commencement of work and found appropriate for the trade.

Brian worked with us for about 12 months on scheduling the project as we had significant exterior repairs to porches and trim due to winter damage. He assisted us on paint selection (many different shades) and ultimately we choose a slighly darker shade than was currently on the home. Brian's attention to detail was evident on the finished product. The pallette of Grey is crisp against the bright white trim, and the moldings and bead board ceilings of the porches appear to jump out in detail. Brian was willing to work around repair projects and move on to other areas of the home, while repairs to trim occurred. Some sections of the home were beyond the reach of ladders and Brian rented a Boom Lift to assist with these higher areas. The work took 3-4 weeks, which was a bit longer than some of the quotes we received from larger companies; however, Brian's attention to detail and willingness to work with us on our schedule were welcomed. We would reccomend him to anyone looking for a good value, and great attention to detail.

Brian was always on time if not early. He was great at communicating and was always polite and took the time to explain any questions we had. As with all remodeling projects problems present themselves and when this happened Brian was quick to find a solution that didn't destroy the project price. He set a timeline for the project and stayed within it. All contractors should be so courteous.

Brian was incredibly nice and responsiveness when I first contacted him. Because of unexpected health reasons, a prior contractor backed out of the interior painting job I needed done. I had to find someone very quickly to do the work before 2 tenants moved in. Brian understood the situation, clearly stated he needed to check his schedule before committing, then once he committed (thanks to bad weather he was available as his job was an exterior painting job), he very honestly quoted (knowing I had limited flexibility anyway...so top marks in my view on "Integrity"). The job was done perfectly. on time and on budget. I will call Brian for all my future painting jobs without any hesitation. Thanks again.

The care he and Jim took in prepping to paint by covering the floors, taping plastic on things as not to be splattered to moving things we had overlooked. They both were very cognizant of my work schedule and very good with the animals - both dogs and cats. They were personable, professional and trustworthy. They were even interactive with my grandson. Very neat. I just cannot say enough. I would highly recommend Houston Painting. A+ for sure!

Everything good that everyone else has said is absolutely true. He and his staff are meticulous hard workers and very personable. They consider attention to detail to be paramount. If there was an A++ rating, Brian absolutely would get it from me! Brian went above and beyond in every area and I hope he knows how much I appreciate it. Brian took the time to come to my house, meet with me, and provide me with a thorough review and analysis of what needed to be completed; he offered suggestions and guided me in the right direction. He was kind, patient, professional and an absolute pleasure to work wtih. I will work with him again as soon as I'm ready to move on to the next room. Without Brian's assistance, I would STILL be trying to pick paint colors and have made absolutely no progress. Brian stayed in touch throughout the decision making and painting process and his response time was better than any vendor I've ever worked with. I was hesitant to let another vendor into my home after an extrememly negative experience with a heating and furnace installer; Brian has restored my faith!! He treated my home and its' contents with the utmost respect. He also was very aware of and made friends with our bossy kitty; it was critical that the cat not get outside and Brian and team made sure the cat was tended to, cared for and safe while they were here. I believe this was above and beyond what they needed to do and speaks volumes about the type of business Brian operates. Oh - did I mention how amazing the actual paint job is?! The walls are beautiful and Brian's suggestion to carry the same color through both rooms was spot on - I love, love, love the work he and his team did. I chose Brian based on Angie's List reviews! Everything everyone says is TRUE. My home was left in immaculate condition. NO cigarette butts, no beer cans, care around my flower beds etc. This was the best work we've ever had done on our home's exterior. The time and care that Brian and his crew took were amazing. This project was started very late in the season as we only contacted Brian for an estimate in late July and, as you might expect, he was booked for most of the 'season'. The project took slightly longer than expected given the late start, and the fact that weather is ALWAYS a factor with exterior painting and beyond anyone's control. Regardless, Brian ALWAYS stayed in touch via email or text to let us know his plans. and completed most of the project (we actually ADDED things to the scope of the project that could not be done before the bad weather hit) and he will return in the spring to complete these added items for us.
If you are looking for a "cheap" painting job, this company is NOT for you. Brian charged what I consider to be a fair rate for the extent of the job (very large home) and the attention to detail in the workmanship that he provided. A man is entitled to be paid a fair days wage for a fairs day work, so this is not the cheapest company you can find, but in my opinion it is the BEST, and sometimes you DO get what you pay for.
I think what sums up our overall experience best is that we are planning to develop a long-term relationship with Brian and the carpenter he introduced us to, to help us "MAINTAIN" the house's exterior and also attend to the interior in the near future.

Brian was very thorough and was timely. He was neat and available for the small extras that occur inevitably on jobs like these. He prepared and painted all of the interior of a 3200 square-foot home. Excellent job. Very thorough and painstaking.

"We received a referral from a local building contractor, whom we work with quite extensively, to meet with the customer's for an interior paint quote. After our initial visit to the home, we put together contract to repaint the entire inside of the home. Since the home had never received more than a coat of primer on the walls, trim and ceilings, our job was to customize the home to the customer's taste. We then proceeded to paint all of the ceilings, walls and trim. The home needed a complete make over, starting with a lot of prep that included filling nail holes, recaulking trim, some wall patching and removal of a lot of unused hardware. The other goal was to get as much painted in a two week time frame as possible before the moving truck arrived to help move the customer's into their new home. After the moving truck was unloaded, we then proceeded to paint the remainder of the home in a timely fashion. It was our pleasure to tackle this project with an easy to work with contractor and crew, as well as working with great customers. Some painters may be hesitant to help customers select a custom color for each individual room. However, we really enjoy working with customers on selecting colors since this process helps them customize their home and inevitably makes for a more pleasant experience in the end. Customer service is one of the most important aspects of being a painting contractor. We really enjoyed working with the customer's and look forward to working with them again this spring on the exterior of their home."

We can depend of Houston Painting to do a quality job. They are neat, (no cleaning up after them when they leave), always use drop cloths, take down all the hardware (no painting around items). They are respectful of our home and of us. When they finished on the 2011 project of painting a bedroom and a bath, even helped me restore the furniture to their proper places. If there is any minor damage to the walls, they will ask if I want it repaired and then will do the work flawlessly. They arrive to do the work when they say

We had an excellent experience with Brian, would certainly use his services again and have referred a relative to him. He was helpful from the beginning - even in advising us in the estimate process. We had to have some rot repair and Brian coordinated the work with another service provider and established standards and expectations for the other service provider.
Brian communicated effectively and promptly. Weather was a factor with respect to schedule, but Brian kept us apprised and updated as the schedule necessarily changed.
We received several estimates and found Brian's pricing competitive and reasonable.

I am beyond thrilled with the work that Brian did in our home. As I mentioned, in two of the rooms there was wallpaper that needed to be removed. Even though the previous owner didn't prep the walls correctly prior to wallpapering, Brian was able to remove all the paper and repair the rips, tears, and holes that were hiding on the drywall underneath. The walls look fantastic. He also did some finishing work for us on two walls that had been changed but not finished by a previous contractor. Brian was professional and communicated well about the project and where it was headed. I also really appreciated the fact that he and his partner cleaned up their work at the end of each day so there was minimal impact to our comfort at night - especially since it was a multi-week job. He showed up when he said he would and was very aware of our needs as well as his own. I cannot recommend Brian enough and intend to use him again in the future. I trust him completely and was more then happy to leave him in the house alone and even give him a key so he could come and go as needed. I am over the moon with how great our house looks and Brian deserves much of the credit for that!

It was a big job. They did a lot of painting and powerwashing. The price included both the jobs. I think a lot of people used them and I am assuming that they have been pleased. We need to have some more painting done and this coming summer we will have them back. Their clean-up was fine. It is hard to say anything about the price because we didn't get any other estimates. Their responsiveness was fine. We would call them back.

We had them come out about two or three times. Our experience with them was absolutely marvelous. They came when they said they were going to and they were very neat and clean. They cleaned up every night. They helped me with furniture and they did very good work. I have referred them to many of my friends and they feel the same way about them. They do what they say they are going to do and they do it extremely well.

Excellent job. Brian is a perfectionist. All surfaces were repaired, sanded and painted with care. Brian and his coworker (also named Brian) arrived promptly each day, worked steadily and left our house clean. Houston probably costs a little more than competitors, but the job quality will pay off in long life.
