"I recommend Don and Crystal! After getting 3 quotes to remodel bathroom, they were the most reasonable. They did a great job removing and putting in new bathtub/shower unit, putting in some new electrical outlets and a new tile floor. They always showed up when they said they would and completed this project very quickly. Very dependable, professional and hard working. I highly recommend this couple. Not only did they save us a lot of money but did an excellent job with this project. I will definately hire them again!"

Holiday Decorating questions, answered by experts

You can take a few steps to prolong the life of your holiday lights. Make sure to replace burnt-out bulbs as quickly as possible to avoid overloading the rest of the circuit and knocking out more lights. Before packing them up each year, plug each strand into the wall to confirm everything is still working. Wrap the lights carefully back into their original packaging or something similar—winding a strand tightly together or leaving it to hang loose in a storage bin can lead to frayed or damaged wiring.

Inspect for burnt-out bulbs, secure connections, and protect from water exposure to maintain functionality.

Repairing a strand of Christmas lights will save you a few dollars and the hassle of going to the store to purchase new ones. That may or may not be enough to make fixing them worth it to you. However, if the lights are already hanging or around the tree, removing and replacing them is far more time-consuming than performing a quick repair job.

If you take home a pre-lit Christmas tree but want to spruce it up with blinking lights, don’t worry, there’s a simple solution. You can easily replace the light bulbs on the pre-lit tree with flashing bulbs. For a more subtle look, only replace some of the bulbs with flashing bulbs.

You can attach Christmas lights to your palm tree by securely wrapping the strings around the tree. If you notice the strands slipping, you can also use a staple gun to secure them to the trunk.
