We are very happy with the work he did and highly recommend that you have him take a look at your project. You will not find a better contractor with his level of experience. "1. Repaired and renovated, garage and 2nd story screen porch facades, including replacement of joists, plywood, and careful waterproofing/sealing of walls, windows and trims. 2. Built awning/roof above garage door to include copper roof detail. 3. Remodeled interior screen porch wall with wainscoting and baseboard to create a more custom look. Experience: Kevin and his team were proactive in determining root cause of repair and next steps. Kevin was also responsive through chat/ phone when I had questions. Crew were always on time and reliable. Albert, lead carpenter, was very skilled at ensuring structure/repairs were done properly."

Small jobs welcome

"Kaydn was great to deal with! It was very refreshing to work with a contractor who acted like he wanted your business. I've had dealings with a couple different contractors in this process and Kaydn was extremely responsive, did fantastic work and the price was great! I will definitely reach out to K & A Renovations for my next project."

Customers say: True professional

"Gerard did a great job building and installing 4 railings at my house. Two of the railings were for the outside stairs and 2 were for the inside. The inside rails were a bit complicated and Gerard was able to come up with a design that fit my budget and the house aesthetic. The project took a little longer than anticipated but I am very happy with the final result. I would recommend Gerard to people who are looking for railing work."

"Aubrey & Son Home Improvement- replaced and installed/9 outdoor window trim and facia board full length of the house and installed a gutter. They did an excellent job. They kept us informed on how/what they were doing and answered all our questions. They cleaned everything up when done. I would hire them again."

"Asa is wonderful to work with.  Both times he responded to my initial inquiry the same day.  When he quoted the work, that was the price that the work ended up costing me.  Asa completed the work when he said he would (which was within 2 weeks of my asking him to do so) and it was done well.  The first set of siding he fixed in 2011 is still holding strong.  I will definitely use Asa again when I have other home improvement projects and I highly recommend him.

"Adam, the owner of Magic Frog Carpentry & Woodworks is great to work with. He is responsive via text and phone conversations. He has a lot of skilled people he works with and does a lot of the work as well. When any hiccup comes up he is quick to get it resolved. This past fall I hired him to do a partial remodel of my kitchen (new countertop, new backsplash, new flooring and painting. I was happy with the work and decided to hire Adam again for a tub to shower conversion. I am really happy with the results of both projects. I plan on reaching out to Adam for the next home project."

"We had Pro Warrior raise our garage and make 2 bedrooms, re roof and re side the whole house. I can’t say enough great things about Pro Warrior. Yann and his team were incredible to work with. Any issues or adjustments we had they addressed on the spot and were happy to do so. Everything came out amazing and will absolutely work with them again!"

Garages questions, answered by experts

For a garage to be included in a home's official square footage, it must qualify as livable space. This generally means it needs to be attached to the home and have permanent finishings like proper insulation, finished walls and ceilings, and adequate ventilation. To be considered livable year-round, it should also have heating and cooling. The specific legal requirements can vary by location, but if a garage is converted into a finished room meeting these criteria, it may be counted toward the total square footage.

Plexiglass garage doors are a durable and less expensive alternative to garage doors, and they maintain a similar aesthetic. Other elegant types of garage doors include carriage house garage doors and stylish wooden garage doors, but these don’t offer the same look as glass, of course.

Each garage door is different, but they typically operate between 300 MHz and 390 MHz.

We recommend plywood and solid wood. Particleboard and MDF (medium-density fiberboard) are often too weak to hold significant loads, and could sag or deform under pressure. Plywood or solid wood are meant to last, and can handle the weight of several large items. If you want to spend a little more for a moisture-resistant material, you can consider using steel.

Wood, steel, fiberglass, and aluminum are among the top building materials for a garage. Wood is highly customizable, naturally insulative, and durable in mild climates but can be expensive. Steel is lightweight, low-maintenance, and cost-effective, but it’s susceptible to rust. Fiberglass is low-maintenance and doesn’t shrink or expand in changing temperatures, but it can become brittle and crack from prolonged high winds and sun exposure.

Unlike steel, aluminum isn’t susceptible to rust and is low-maintenance, but its ultra-light weight makes it less durable than some materials, and it’s susceptible to saltwater damage, making it a poor choice for coastal homes.
