The project went great; I'm very happy with the final product. It lines up exactly with what I was looking for at the start of the project and looks better than I could have planned because of some great design suggestions from Wagner Home Renovation along the way. We ended up creating two separate closets from the previous closet incorporating some previously unused space in the condo as well. Both closets are accessed through very nice double doors. The laundry closet and general/clothes closet both look great. Wagner Home Renovation used high quality repurposed wood from a previous project and black iron rods to give the general/clothes closet great character. All of the work was very well done, and blends into the existing paint and trim-work so well, you can't even tell any work has been done. As an example, they added a wooden keystone at the enlarged entranceway near the new closets that was a very nice touch and feels like it was always there. They were able to save me money throughout the project by offering to use repurposed wood from previous projects that was often better quality than what would normally be used. Wagner Home Renovation does high-quality work and has a genuine interest in how well the end result turns out. They have a great attention for detail, offer great design ideas and options, and are responsive, honest, budget-conscious, flexible, reliable and easy to work with. I highly recommend them.

We hired Wagner to do an expansion of or bathroom. We had a final payment disagreement. This was based on him being deceitful along with poor quality work from him and his drywall and plumbing sub contractors. We sent him a payment we felt was fair he refused and increased again amount he felt was owed to him after engaging him again. We won in court based on NH Consumer Protection act and his case against us was dismissed.

Asa again was easy to work with. He is professional and honest in his recommendations and was fine if I wanted to go in different direction as long as it maintained the quality of the work. I almost always went with his recommendations though. Other tradesmen have commented on the high quality of his work which meant that potential renters were willing to pay more to live in such a great place!

Great! The quality of his work is excellent. He is easy to work with and is very honest. He showed ingenuity in figuring out how to add a shower to a small powder room. This work was done over a year ago and both bathrooms continue to be a joy to use!

Overall we were quite pleased with Asa's work. He is a very nice person, very upbeat and energetic, and pleasant to deal with. He handles the business end professionally with a formal quote and we found his prices to be fair. The project took a bit longer than it could have, but it was done within the time-frame he had quoted and for the quoted price. It was complicated a bit by deer-hunting season on his end, Thanksgiving holiday, and a mid-December vacation on our end. So the entire process took from early Nov - end of December. Asa does his best to clean up after each day, but it is a messy process. I would say his strength is the carpentry work. The only thing I would not hire him to do again is the painting, and normally he would have brought in a sub to do it, but it was such a small area, it made more sense just to have him do it. Asa was good about communicating schedules and was responsive to questions via phone calls and e-mails. He was sometimes delayed or had to reschedule, but he did give us notice when this happened. Asa brought good quality subcontractors to the job and scheduled and managed them well. I did stay very involved in the scheduling and day-to-day progress, but that is my nature. We would use Asa again, particularly for carpentry type work - in fact, he will be giving us a quote for a wall unit in our family room when we are ready to proceed with that project.

Asa is a hard worker and very easy to get along with. He took the time to explain what needed to be done and did everything with care and to the utmost quality. His initial quote held true even though the job required a bit more time and material than expected. I will highly recommend Asa in the future.

Very well. The upstairs bathroom we added an easy access shower to a half bath. To accomplish this we had to gut the bathroom back to the studs, correct some wall framing, lay new pipes, get a 60" x 33" shower in, drywall, tile the floor, add a new toilet and reinstall a pedistal sink. Because we were living in the house this all had to be done keeping the downstairs bathroom working. When the upstairs bath was finished, the first floor bath was gutted and once again reinsulated, new drywall, a new floor, new plumbing, a new tub/shower and sink were added. Trust me, while this all looks so easy on TV, it really takes some time, and you have to allow for that. Asa Wagner is a delight to work with and a perfectionist. I am very happy with the finished projects and would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone.

Our deck was in poor shape and needed to be resurfaced.  Asa pointed out some additional issues that other contractors did not find.  Asa's price was slightly higher than other contractors (even with the other issues deducted).   We elected to go with Asa as result of the review's on Angles List.  He was pleasant to work with and was clear on changes when needed and made sure to provide cost estimates for the additional work.  Quality of workmanship was excellent.  Would recommend him for your project.

Asa was personable and friendly, but he kept telling me what he couldn't do.  Then when he gave an estimate for exterior painting, he inflated the cost by double of other contractor.  He could not carry the FHA load, and he was going to charge for the time it took him to do the paperwork for the job.  Overall, he did not inspire confidence in his company's ability to do the job, but instead of saying it was too big for him, he was just discouraging.

Asa is wonderful to work with.  Both times he responded to my initial inquiry the same day.  When he quoted the work, that was the price that the work ended up costing me.  Asa completed the work when he said he would (which was within 2 weeks of my asking him to do so) and it was done well.  The first set of siding he fixed in 2011 is still holding strong.  I will definitely use Asa again when I have other home improvement projects and I highly recommend him.

I really didn’t like the work at all.  He was extremely slow and the finished product was not on par.  He was average on price compared to other quotes I got but his service was low par.  The quality was not good at all.  He was pretty responsive.

We inherited a very old rental-grade neo-angle shower in our upstairs bathroom when we bought our house in 2006. We did some minor patches ourselves to make it more attractive, but we knew we had to take serious action when the plastic floor of the shower cracked.
Asa Wagner was one of three contractors who provided estimates. Other estimates were lower, but we chose Asa because as he discussed the project with us in order to provide his estimate, it was clear that he was foreseeing all the complexity of it and thinking through solutions already (e.g., it wasn't a full bathroom renovation which is often simpler, it's an old house so angles are never plumb, we didn't want to replace the tile floor but it was uncertain if some might get damaged in the process, etc).  It was obvious he was approaching it from a perspective of anticipating all possible problems because he was the type of contractor who would make good on any future problems, and leaking showers can cause massive damage.  He was also asking a lot of questions, clearly wanting to know what we wanted so he could give us what we wanted.  He is also a very good communicator -- discussing the complexities in non-contractror-speak, but also addressing the details in a way that made clear he cared about the aesthetics of the final outcome as if it were his own bathroom. Lastly, we chose him because his proposal was detailed, the price was reasonable, and he was very approachable in addressing questions of money and project scope.  We just plain liked him and felt we could trust him.

Asa provided significant consultation up-front during the process of shopping for tile and a 36-inch neo-angle shower (there aren't many out there!). He's very accessible via his cell phone.  He agreed to receive shipment of the materials since we were going to be out of the country for a week when they were due to arrive. He also was flexible in terms of scheduling -- we had to reschedule 2 or 3 times due to late deliveries and our own travels.
Once the work began, Asa was very conscientious in setting up his workspace in our upstairs guest bedroom by protecting furniture and the floor.  He was also very careful to clean up messes he made at the end of each work day. As our house is very old (early 1800s), there were many time-consuming difficulties that arose in the process of the work, which he had known would only surface once he got into the work. Asa took them all in stride and never requested a change order because he had accounted for contingencies in his bid. He was very patient and collaborative with us as we made decisions throughout the process (where to put the new shower head, how to lay out the tile, etc.). Asa also did an excellent job of securing and coordinating the plumbing and electrical subcontractors -- both were outstanding, polite, and conscientious. We know that coordinating subcontractors is often difficult and frustrating, especially on a small job like ours, but Asa had an easy-going, positive attitude and made it all work.

A story from the end of the project will give you an idea of Asa's integrity. Because the grout needs to set for a couple of days before running the shower, he wasn't able to test the shower for leaks.  In fact, it did leak significantly the first time we used it.  When we called to tell him, he promised to come by and take a look and said, "My instincts told me I should use silicone calk inside the whole glass surround, but the instructions said not to, so I didn't."  In spite of it not being his fault, he was there the next day to calk it all.  Again, we had to wait a day to test it.  It still leaked, but this time less so.  He came by again, and spent several hours this time taking apart the whole glass surround and calking it all inside (after calling the manufacturer who contradicted their written instructions and recommended calking inside.)  All this, AFTER he had been paid in full AND with no complaining.
In summary, the final product is excellent (leaks gone, beautifully aligned tile). Asa pays very close attention to detail and everything he did was high quality. He is committed to customer service, and this was evident to us throughout the process.  (One more case in point -- on one of his hardware store trips, he bought a package of the special light bulbs required by the new light/fan,  something that we were going to do, but he wanted to save us the trip.)
We highly recommend Wagner Home Renovation and we will not hesitate to call on Asa again should we do another renovation project.

I emailed Asa Wagner thru Angie's List and he called me the same day.  He came by within 2 days to give me an estimate on the work.  The estimate sounded good to me so I agreed to have him do the work.  He came a week later than originally scheduled due to weather, but the work was quality and I have not had any problems with the siding since, even though we have had several major wind storms.  Definitely quality work.
