Livestock and Equine fence design and installation. I started building high tensile fence in the early 1990's when we took over the area as a Gallagher dealer. I have since learned a lot about what works and what doesn't, what is good quality and what is junk. When Gallagher discontinued insultimber I searched for a replacement. The replacement I found was the PasturePro composite post. I now use CCA treated posts for corner and end braces, as well as anywhere there is a dip/rise/bend in the fence. Everywhere else I use the PasturePro posts.

All fences offer some degree of privacy, but standard perimeter fences may not be designed with that in mind. Dedicated privacy fences, however, tend to enclose smaller areas and feature more high-end materials that truly emphasize seclusion and comfort. Additionally, privacy fences typically offer fewer gaps to peek in through than standard fences, though you can likely adjust that to suit your preferences. 

Generally, the height of your dog fence should be 3 times the distance from the ground to your dog’s shoulder. When comparing them side by side, horizontal fences cost more than vertical fences but they do tend to be more durable. Since the majority of fences feature vertical pickets, a horizontal fence offers a more distinct look. On the other hand, horizontal fences may not always make the best privacy fences since the rails could have slight gaps.

While electric fences don’t consume much energy, they still need it. If you have a power outage after a storm, your electric fence will likely stop working.

Fences last between five and 30 years on average, depending on the material. Chain link fences are prone to rust, which can lower their lifespan. Vinyl and composite fences are more durable as they don’t rust and don’t need to be sealed like wooden fences do.
