"The first person I talked to was very helpful. She explained their services and how they priced them. I received an estimate range, and the actual cost was at the low end of that range. The gentlemen who removed the sofa were on time, were pleasant to interact with, and showed respect for our house and belongings. All in all...a very positive experience!"

"I needed to clean out my mother's house. She had lived in it for 57 years, so there was a lot to do. David Klein was patient with my questions and took time to explain what he thought would be the most efficient and cost effect way to go about this process. I also has some furniture to move to another location and he said they would do that also. The dumpster truck and two men showed up on time and did excellent work. The men were careful, yet efficient and they were also just great guys. I highly recommend All Star."

Dumpster Service questions, answered by experts

Service costs depend on project size and complexity, service scope, and any tough task specifics encountered.

Yes, construction materials like tile, lumber, drywall, and hardware can be disposed of in a dumpster, just not in your regular garbage. As you’re planning your project, just make sure to rent the correct size of dumpster based on the scope of your needs and be aware of weight limits. Tile weighs a lot (along with other construction materials), and your costs could increase if you exceed the weight limit in your contract with the dumpster provider.

When you move to a new area, check your new city's Department of Sanitation or local municipal website for more information. The site will clarify who picks up garbage in your area, how to arrange service, and your designated pickup day. You will also find instructions for purchasing the proper bins and bags for collection.

Costs range from $20 to $100 monthly, depending on service frequency and waste volume.

The most affordable way to get rid of junk often involves a do-it-yourself approach, especially if you don't have a large amount of debris. Start by sorting your items into categories: donate, recycle, sell, or trash.

  • Donate or Sell: Usable goods can be donated to local charities. You can also list items for free or for a low price on platforms like Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

  • Use Municipal Services: Your city's regular garbage collection or bulk pickup days can be the cheapest option. However, be sure to check community guidelines for quantity limits and accepted materials. You can also take recyclables to a city drop-off center.

  • Haul it Yourself: If you have a truck or suitable vehicle, loading the junk and taking it to a local transfer station, public dump, or waste disposal facility is a very cost-effective method.

If a DIY approach isn't possible, consider these options:

  • Rent a Dumpster: You can rent a dumpster, fill it yourself, and the rental company will haul it away. This is a good middle-ground if you can do the labor but don't have a vehicle for transport.

  • Hire a Junk Removal Service: While typically the most expensive choice, hiring a professional junk removal team is the most time-efficient and requires the least effort from you. This is a good solution if your city's services won't accept the items or if you are unable to move them yourself.
