"They called us the day before to confirm the appointment and when they had some truck issues getting to our house that day they called to keep us informed. They had to switch trucks. They were very thorough and neat and did a great job. They even did a brief inspection of our chimney as they were cleaning it."

"This was a complete and positive experience in dealing with a contractor. Contacted JJs Roofing through the list along with 2 other companies. Had email and phone contact with the principals of each company and arranged for persons to come to the site to evaluate the project and make accurate measurements for a more detailed proposal. Within the same day of making the evaluations, I received 2 competitive bids to do the job. The third competitive bid was submitted sometime later after I committed to JJs and had the work completed! The scope of work was similar in all aspects and there was only a slight difference in the price. To their advantage, JJs proposed to do the job in 3 days while the other bids proposed 5 or 6 days. Because this is winter and the weather plays a huge factor in the roofing business, I opted for the 3-day make over where nice weather was predicted. In dealing with JJs owner John Johnston, he was helpful and extremely accommodating. He was mindful of my own circumstances of having to travel from out of town to be present during the project's work days. I was extremely grateful for this consideration. Once I accepted the JJs bid, a crew was sent back to the job site to remeasure for the replacements skylight and the access door. These are custom items so it is important to be accurate. The day of the job, JJs sent a crew led by Hector Ramos who along with another worker had done the preliminary evaluation. The men went about the job with speed, efficiency and care. The unusual break in the weather was great incentive for the men to work. After the first day, the old roof was torn off and general repairs to the underlying structure was begun and completed. The roof was covered with a tarp for the night. Day two, the men showed up promptly and continued their work. When I ventured to the roof top, Hector took the time to explain in great detail the entire process and timetable for the work. Because there where other elements involved beyond just laying down a new roof, I appreciated his explanations. I had a skylight replaced, a new roof access door installed, the relocation of the main drain and installation of a down spout, and the replacements of vent caps. The entire crew were courteous and extremely professional. By the end of the second day, I was sure I had made the right decision in choosing JJs. The final day and Hector assured me they would be finished on time and before the expected rains would come. I glanced at their progress throughout the day and saw the work completed on time. The men were extremely careful to clean everywhere debris landed in or around the work area on top and on the ground. When they left, the entire area was spotless! It was great having the highly skilled professionals from JJs Roofing working on this project. It is with high confidence that I recommend JJs Roofing for your roofing needs. "The company showed up on time and conducted the shingle replacement being careful not to damage the gardens around the house. They brought the roof up to current code, (the roof no longer complied with local codes), and worked with our chimney company to install the flashing properly. The cleanup was performed in an acceptable manner and the work was finished on time. Follow-up inspections by the company and I showed I had a good roof that was going to last another long time. I would definitely recommend this company for roof work."

"The service rep was very safety conscious and went over safety details on how to properly build a fire, how to dispose of the embers, how to avoid extra smoke coming into the house.  he did a thorough examination of the chimney flues, inside and outside and checked some brick facing in the attic that a previous inspector had explained needed to be re-mortared.  He had a thorough knowledge of the construction of our chimney and pronounced in in very good condition.  He also confirmed the proper discharge location for fallen embers into the basement, which had been a worry for us.  He pronounced that in good shape as well.  He also went over the idea we wanted to explore of making the fireplace into a two sided one and he explained that this was indeed possible.  but he recommended that we use the third flu, which he discovered and which no one had told us about, and explained we could convert that flu to a gas fired fireplace flu for the room on the other side. 
He cleaned up well after himself and was professional throughout.  I will use him again every year.

"I joined Angie's list to find a reputable roofer. Based on the reviews, I chose Dunlap and I am very satisfied. I was not at home when Chico (the owner) looked at my house for the quote. I talked him through how to access my roof and he saw every issue I had, and explained in great detail how he would fix each one. His quote - exerpted above detailed all of the items from our discussion. His crew showed up almost to the minute we had arranged, and worked straight through for nearly twelve hours. The roof is a Baltimore flat roof with four skylights, a deck, and a chimney. Other difficulties were a parapet wall that required quite a bit of custom metal work and the connection to a neighbor that needed a lot of flashing. One person basically spent the entire day flashing and sealing around a rooftop deck. Another spent most of the day bending metal for flashing. Chico and two others torched down the roofing and did the flashing. They did everything as detailed on the quote and more. A walkthrough of the final job revealed a couple of small issues that were quickly resolved before they cleaned up."
