"It looks amazing. We wanted it to look like it had been painted white for years which we originally thought would require a glaze. It turned out that we didn't need the glaze so Mike reduced the cost of the job which was greatly appreciated. Mike was very easy to work with and very meticulous and professional. We would highly recommend him for unique painting projects."

"I had tiles that had come loose due to improper installation (by someone else). William remove that tile and hardy board to clean up the bad installation. He put down a new membrane and tile. He even found a new tile that matched the old ones. Great job!"

"I bought a home built before 1978 and found that there was some asbestos floor tile in the basement. I reached out to D&H Demolition and they immediately came out to take a look at the project and provided a free estimate. They were very helpful and answered all my questions which made me feel a lot safer about the situation. I hired them and they took care of the work the very next day! Overall I was very pleased with their price and quality of work. Highly recommend!"

"I recently hired KF Remodeling to repair water-damaged flooring in a bedroom, and I couldn't be happier with their service. They were quick to respond to my Angie request and maintained excellent communication throughout the process. The team was prompt, on time, and priced fairly for the work they performed. Most importantly, the quality of their work was top-notch. If you're looking for reliable and professional remodeling services, I highly recommend KF Remodeling!"

"I have used Tyler and his team for two projects over the last couple years and I will never use someone else. They did a tile backsplash in the kitchen and most recently a bathroom remodel. Tyler is professional, punctual and fair. The work is top notch and no detail is too small. Tyler and team make the process stress free with their ability to trouble shoot complexities and communicate. They take care to protect and maintain the cleanliness of your home through the entire project."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

You can lay tile directly on a plywood countertop, but if it’s a high-traffic surface in a kitchen, it’s better to add a moisture-resistant base. Plywood is susceptible to moisture, so if dampness seeps through from the surface around the sink or where you prep food, it can cause the plywood to warp, leading to grout damage, cracked tiles, or mold growth under the surface.

Tiles last for around 100 years or more. Tiles on backsplashes can last even longer since they’re less likely to crack under foot traffic or from accidental drops, but even tile in high-traffic flooring can last a century or more with proper installation and upkeep. Porcelain tiles are denser and stronger than standard ceramic tiles, so they’ll last longer, often pushing past the 100-year mark.

You can technically install tile over tile, but we don’t suggest it. Installing tile over any surface that isn’t a completely flat and prepared subfloor will result in a shoddy overall job, uneven flooring, tiles that don’t adhere, extra weight, gaps, cracks, and room for moisture and dirt to enter. For the best results, only install new tile on a flat, sanded surface like subflooring or concrete that is prepared for tile.

If you have asbestos tile and would rather tile over it than remove it, or if your existing tile is completely flat and bonded tightly to the floor, you may be able to tile over existing tile. But experts recommend thinking twice before you do.

The rule tells you how to cut tile to install it in a corner. The 3/4/5 rule recommends that you should have 3 feet across on one straight line, four feet on the other perpendicular line, and 5 feet of length from the end of one of the lines to the other. You’re making a right triangle with the tile, and the hypotenuse (the line across from where the 3-foot lie and 4-foot line meet) should be 5 feet long.

For best results, you should remove the toilet in a bathroom before removing tile or installing new tile. If you don’t remove the toilet, it will be harder to fully waterproof the tile around the toilet, which could increase the risk of mold growth or plumbing leaks. If you have trouble removing the toilet, hire a plumber to help.
