"Mr. Barnes was punctual, professional, and answered all questions clearly. Offered suggestions and a variety of shingle choices. This is definitely a company to contact when you're looking for a new roof - very professional! I'll contact them for quotes in the future with other projects. Hired another company, solely due to price difference."

"Robert came to my house and inspected the roof and inside the attic. He explained what was going wrong with my roof and outlined my options for getting a new roof installed. He also showed me his company's credentials and their excellent ratings with various rating agencies. He gave me a quote and I was contacted to confirm the installation date. Robert and his crew showed up on time, worked really hard all day and had the new roof installed as well as the two new attic fans we had discussed installing. They cleaned up completely when they were done. Throughout the process Robert and his employees were all very professional, quick to respond to any questions and helpful in all ways. I recommend K & R Roofmasters highly and would use them again."

"It went exceptionally well. I was away, when the service was performed.  Because of rain, Mr. Tom Parks sent and email explaining that they would not come on the designated day, but on the next day, which they did.
Mr. Parks sent before photos of the roof and after photos.  They were very clear and told the story.  During the next heavy rain storm, I  kept my fingers crossed.  The repair was successful and I had no more leaks.
Mr. Parks assured me that if there were any problems, they would come out and do whatever they needed to make the necessary repairs.  Well, I thought that I had a leak in a different area of the roof. Mr. Parks sent out " his best worker" to take a look.  It turns out that the leak was not from the roof, but from an upstairs toilet, that was leaking through my ceiling.
I must say that I am more that pleased with how professional, responsive, pleasant Daniel Parks Roofing is and how they keep their word regarding the quality of work and also their honoring their promise regarding standing behind the work they perfor.
I recommend them, and have already to several people, with  great enthusiasm.

"EZ Management met me at my house to inspect the roof due to an existing leak. They provided pricing for a repair and a full replacement of the roof as I had requested right after their inspection. They provided me a detailed explanation of what was involved with both the repair and the replacement. Once I had decided to go with the full replacement they met me at my house again to sign the contract and answer any remaining questions that I had. The scheduled the work with-in a few days and accommodated my schedule as well. The roof removal and installation only took one day and I was very pleased with how they had cleaned up after the work was completed. Overall al was very satisfied with their work and would recommend them to others.

Skylights questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can cover up a skylight if you no longer wish to have it in your space. There are a few options for covering up a skylight. One option is to install a skylight cover or shade that can be easily opened or closed as needed, allowing you to control the amount of light entering the room. Another option is to cover the skylight with a solid material, such as plywood or drywall, effectively sealing it off. However, when covering a skylight, it's essential to ensure proper insulation and waterproofing to prevent any issues in the future.

A skylight's ability to withstand hail depends on factors like material quality and thickness. Impact-resistant options, such as tempered or laminated glass, fare better against hail compared to standard glass. Proper installation and regular maintenance also contribute to their resilience. While smaller hailstones may not pose a significant threat, larger ones can cause damage. Consider skylight protection methods like covers or screens in hail-prone areas to enhance durability and minimize potential harm.

Whether you need a permit to install a skylight depends on the scope of the project and local regulations. Generally, permits are required if the installation involves altering the structural components of your home, such as moving roof rafters. In some municipalities, a permit might also be necessary if the skylight protrudes above the highest point of your existing roof. However, if no structural changes are made, a permit may not be needed. The cost for a skylight installation permit is typically under $100. A convenient time to add a skylight is during a roof replacement, as your contractor can incorporate the new opening into the design.

Yes, flat roofs can make use of a skylight or window to allow natural light into the home. When finding the best skylight installer, it’s important to pick a professional with experience working with a flat roof. The installer must pick the right type of window design to match the slight slope of the roof.

When planning out skylights and deciding how big they should be, it's important to look at the dimensions of the interior space. In addition to changing a room aesthetically, skylights influence the illumination and temperature of the space below. The U.S. Department of Energy recommends that a skylight’s size should never be more than 5% of the floor area in rooms with many windows.
