Small jobs welcome

"Excellent service from a very skilled plumber. He was able to resolve a problem with a broken pipe, then complete a vanity / sink installation. I will definitely hire him again."

"Some other reviews remarked that this company might be a bit on the pricey side, but one gets what one pays for. We hired Mr. Rooter to unclog a pedestal sink in a tight bathroom. The tech, Dillon, came out to provide an estimate yesterday afternoon (both verbal and in writing), and returned today to complete the work. He was impeccably professional, very competent, and efficient. He had to replace the old zinc p-trap and snake the line, but not only has the clog now been eradicated, but also the sink has been future-proofed with a new PVC pipe. Dillon left the area clean, and his estimate about the job taking about an hour was bang on. He also provided us with a bottle of preventative biodegradable solution to stave off the chance of future clogs. We would certainly hire Mr. Rooter again if necessary, and definitely recommend the company to others."

"Our kitchen sink drain was backing up a few days before Thanksgiving. I received a telephone call from Sterling of Dun Rite, one of the companies recommended by Home Advisor, who outlined different methods of correcting the clog. He was able to schedule me the next day, contacted me a half hour before arrival, and was extremely thorough in assessing the job. Sterling was very professional and informative."

"Visually inspected sink hole and developed possible causes. Used pipe camera to inspect sewer pipe condition from inside the house to the city pipe connection. Determined pipe was intact. Determined sink hole was result of abandoned septic tank that was deteriorating. Returned in a timely fashion. Excavated sink hole, removed deteriorated septic tank and professionally filled excavation. 100% pleased. Frank and his crew are efficient, down to earth, and experienced."

"My experience with this company was great. I was able to tell them my issues and they gave me several options. Ultimately we went for the full French Drain system. Everything was done on time and the estimates were very fair. Warranty on the work is great. I would call them again if needed."

Sink Installation questions, answered by experts

For safety when installing a vanity, attaching the vanity to the wall is ideal to prevent it from moving. Typically, sinks must be 4 inches away from bathtubs. Also, most states require that you have 21 inches in front of a sink, but the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) recommends 30 inches for more comfort.

When installing an undermount kitchen sink in a granite countertop, use 100% silicone to secure the basin. If you’re worried your sink is too heavy, speak with a countertop professional about how to adhere the sink to the countertop without worrying about issues down the road. Sagging undermount sinks can be a common plumbing problem if they’re not properly adhered, so always make sure you’re using a high-quality material.

Because it’s an engineered stone, quartz composite is much denser than other natural stone alternatives. For instance, if you drop a heavy object in a natural stone sink, there’s a chance the sink could crack, chip, or dent. Quartz’s density means quartz sinks are more resistant to scratches or staining. However, darker quartz sinks are more likely to show scratches or scuffs, and quartz sinks can stain over time.

Yes, you can install a farmhouse sink on an existing countertop—but there are some caveats. You’ll need to precisely measure. It’s best to choose a sink that’s the same dimensions as your existing sink, since your contractor won’t have to cut the countertop. Otherwise, pay close attention to the depth of your counter (the front to back measurement). You don’t want to install something that’s so big it sticks out beyond your countertop and cabinetry.

Whether a pot filler is worth it depends on your cooking habits, budget, and kitchen layout. For avid home cooks who frequently prepare pasta, soups, or stocks, the convenience of filling large pots directly on the stove can be a significant benefit. A pot filler can also add value to a home, attracting potential buyers with its combination of luxury and utility. However, the installation can cost around $800. The return on this investment is highest in larger kitchens where the sink is far from the stove. In smaller kitchens, where the sink is nearby, a pot filler might be perceived as an unnecessary feature by some homeowners or potential buyers.
